Continue ReadingSwenson is not only the #1 setter she is also the #1 2024 in Minnesota. It’s no surprise she’s garnered a plethora of honors in 2022 including AVCA Phenom Watchlist, JVA All-National Team, JVA Watchlist, 17 Open All-Tournament Team, Class AAAA All-State Team, and Class AAAA State All-Tournament Team. Swenson also attending the USAV U18/U19 Spring Training Roster, led Wayzata to another Class AAAA State Champion, and made her verbal commitment to play for the Gophers. She runs the offense and is a natural floor general. Swenson understands the plays and how combination sets impact the offensive system to help her team score.
Kocon is an impressive all-around player that can and will step in and do anything and everything for her team. In 2022 she landed on the AVCA Phenom Watchlist and the Class AAAA All-State Team. Kocon is an impressive 6’1 and a lefty making her a dangerous offensive threat as a setter. She is consistently jump setting and and can produce all 3 tempo sets. Kocon is a wicked attacker and consistent distributing force.
Clark really showed up in 2022 and landed a spot on the AVCA Phenom Watchlist and All Region 2nd Team. She also attended the North Country Region High Performance Camp. Clark is consitent with her placement and pace on the ball. She is also quick in transition from defense to the net. Clark is also consistent at getting her feet to the ball and bettering the ball.
Brandl first caught my eye in 2021 during the state tournament at the X. She then had a solid 2022 where she made the AVCA Phenom Watchlist and Class AAAA All-State Team. Brandl is smooth running the offense transitioning out of serve receive and her athleticism and pursuit skills help minimize her team’s passing errors. She is also good at knowing when to utilizing the back row attack.
Waterman also made the AVCA Phenom Watchlist and will be the MN Select 17-1 team this club season. She does a great job finding her pins even when the 1st contact takes her out of system. Waterman does a great job taking the pressure off her attackers and leading as the captain of the offense. She sees the other side of the net really well and can find the opponents weaknesses and exploit them. Waterman can manipulate the opposing blockers and does a great job establishing the middle early in the match.
