Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. Some players stood out for their dynamic physical skills and some stood out for intangibles like leadership, effort and attitude. Let’s meet a few of the players who earned the moniker of Top Performer at the Dallas Expo due to their play.
Shelby Burris Shelby Burris 6'1" | MB Lovejoy | 2025 TX [2025] 6-1 Middle (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Shelby is currently ranked as the 33rd best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Lovejoy High School and also plays club for the Drive Nation program. I have watched Shelby all of last year during club and this year in high school. I was super excited to see what she would do in our Expo as I think she has grown a lot as a middle playing elite competition non-stop. She was on our top courts and dominated against some stellar competition. Shelby is so much fun to work with because she has a very high motor and commits to blocking at an elite level every rep. What I love about her is she is truly a 2025 but has been playing up an age group and still being extremely productive. She showed this production in every offensive and defensive drill we put her through. If you are looking for a dynamic middle who excels in every route and can get off of the ground extremely fast, look no further. You won’t be disappointed with her abilities in the middle.
Isabella Ocampo Isabella Ocampo 5'11" | OH Highland Park | 2025 State #146 Nation TX [2025] 5-10 Outside (HS: Highland Park/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Ocampo is listed as the 38th best overall prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Highland Park High School and the nationally recognized Dallas Skyline club. I watched her this past high school season become a true “go to” player and show her high school squad that they will be in good hands for the next few years with her golden right arm. Miss Ocampo is what a lot of people call “lightning in a bottle” due to her amazing ability to move on the court, bounce off of the ground, and swing her arm with amazing speed. At the Expo she was one of the most dynamic players we had in the gym. I can’t wait to update the rankings because of what I saw in person on Saturday. She will for sure be moved up and it is totally warranted. Every coach that she interacted with at the Expo was in complete agreement that she was special. Stay tuned to see where she ranks next.
Angelique St. Laurent [2026] 5-11 Right Side/Outside (HS: Flower Mound/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Uncommitted)
“Geli” is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She is a superb right side who plays at Flower Mound High School and also plays club for Drive Nation. I have been looking for amazing players in the class of 2026 and I was introduced to Miss St. Laurent this weekend. I was very impressed with what I saw in her potential. She contacts the ball at her peak reach, which will make it very difficult for opposing blockers to slow her down. I truly love what I saw with her footwork as she routinely made great adjustments on the fly to balls that died a little inside of the court. She was able to track the ball well and still attack very aggressively for a score. As a right side attacker, she is able to move the ball around the block to score in a variety of ways. Geli is also a solid contributor as a blocker against opposing left side attackers. She will be one to watch this coming club season.
There are many more amazing players that will be written about. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.
