Many athletes make the jump, whether by necessity in the case of location, overall player numbers or to find a higher level of competition. Here are several athletes around the state making the move up this season.
The outside hitter plays for a formidable College Prep Academy 18 Nicole team this season. Dandridge is making the long commute to the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area along with Ellensburg standout Abigail Harrell and Lewiston, Idaho middle and University of Washington commit Katy Wessels. A six-rotation outside hitter with a heavy arm, Dandridge is solid in every phase of the game and has an extensive beach background that shows in her play. CPA will send several teams to the Las Vegas Classic over Presidents Day Weekend, including 18 Nicole, competing in the Open Division.

Taylor is a versatile athlete playing for PSVBA 18 Elite and coach Kepa Cummings this club season. She had a tremendous school season for Capital and is a setter/libero with a great defensive mentality. Wiersma is not the only outstanding 2024 prospect playing for the WVBA 18 Molten team this season, liberos Jessica Martin and Hannah Drought join her in playing up. Wiersma is a rangy right-side athlete who excels on the block, making it difficult for opposing outsides to score. She is versatile enough to play the middle if needed and has very nice hands for a pin player. Wiersma also competes in track and filed and her background in the high jump complements her on the volleyball court.

McCoy has a championship-level pedigree for a setter, playing for the powerful Columbia River high school program that has dominated in the state 2A division. She is an intelligent setter and is always finding the best matchups for her attackers. She is also dangerous as an attacker herself, using her athleticism to score when she plays the right-side position.

Black is in the middle blocker position for the CRU 18 team this season. At Grandview, she is used as an outside hitter, and her ability to do both is a big plus for the 5’10 2024 prospect. At the Northwest Power League, she showed off her quick movement pin to pin as a blocker, and consistently put a touch on attacks. Those soft blocks led to several quality transition chances for her team. She is quick off her feet, and she handled overpasses easily slamming them straight down.

The RVC 18 team led by Coach Chris Kosty has multiple 2024 prospects, including one of the best in all of Idaho, setter Kylie Munday. Munday is verbally committed to the University of San Diego and the future Torero is more than deserving of her own full profile. That’s an article for a future date!
Schneider is a jumping jack of a middle who can come out of nowhere for a momentum-changing monster block. Her athleticism allows her to play bigger than her listed 5’10, and she is difficult to stop running a quick set. Her ability to transition at high speed and get off the ground quickly for a kill is high level. Schneider can also do damage as a right side, and has worked at that spot for RVC in prior seasons.
