The massive event will feature 17 divisions and as many as 414 teams, which will compete in six different venues around the city. There will be some real talent in action in those teams and we’ll take the week to present some of the names that have what it takes to stand out during the ATX Showcase.
We start looking at the setters:
Lund emerged as one of the most promising setters in the class of 2026 during the last high school season when, as a freshman, she played a big role in Dripping Springs’ victory at the State Tournament. She’s with Austin Skyline 15 Royal and will compete in the 15 Open division. The first thing that stands out about Lund is her 6’1″ frame, but she has several other interesting tools, starting with her intelligent ball distribution. She’s also an excellent server, a good blocker and a productive defender.

Orton has been developing into a very interesting setter over the last two years and we got to recently watch her closely in one of our Prep Dig Top 250 Expos in Houston. Her size and athleticism are important parts of her game and allow her to be precise with her locations even when out of system, but Orton has extremely solid technical skills too, being capable of playing different roles with her teams. She’s also very intelligent and efficient with her ball distribution. Orton will be playing with Texas Fury 16 Legacy in the 16 Open division of the event.
Fadal has been a stud with her high school team Barbers Hill for years and is now with a new club, leading TAV Houston 17 Adidas in the 17 Open division. She’s very quick and efficient with everything she does on the court, moving around extremely well and typically running a fast-paced offense. Fadal is also a very intelligent player, who can execute every action of the game at a very high level. Besides her technical contributions, she also adds tremendous value by leading her teams and setting an example with her competitiveness and hard work on the court.

Very dynamic on the court, Clay is one of the key pieces in her United VBA 17 Purple team that will appear in the 17 Open division. She sets well to both pins, is extremely precise with locations and is intelligent with her ball distribution. Some of the keys to her efficiency as a setter are her ability to quickly get to the ball and the way she positions her body before making contact with it. Although not very tall, Clay is impressively athletic and that helps in several aspects of her game. She’s a solid defender as well.

A very technical and crafty player, Ortiz will be with SA Magic 18 Elite in the 18’s division this weekend in Austin. Her game is very smooth and that reflects on her setting style, which tends to accelerate the game as much as possible while still keeping impressive precision and keeping opposing blockers guessing. Ortiz is not very tall, but she excellent body control and that helps her deal with tight passes up at the net. She’s also very efficient on the backcourt, firing several aces every match and played very good defense.
