She has been in excellent form lately and recently guided the team to a huge win at the Lone Star Regionals, splitting playing time with Salamasina Nuu. She’s a setter that significantly improves her team’s ability to score points when in system with her intelligent distribution, but is equally important when out of system as she tracks passes well and turns them into hittable sets with ease. Clay likes to play fast, using her strong middles and sending quick sets to the pins. She also works really hard on defense.

Division winners United VBA 17 Purple also had a pair of talented setters splitting the team’s playmaking in Clay and Salamasina Nuu. The 5’8″ Clay was truly impressive with her accuracy and distribution and her ability to get good sets from bad passes was a huge asset for her team. She could send the ball to both pins from anywhere on the court and that has placed her hitters in great situations to score every time she set against the flow. Clay used her middles a lot, as she should, as they were delivering, but knew when to turn to her pin hitters and right side. She also made a big impact on defense and played with great energy, helping her team have the confidence to overcome tough opponents during the day.

Very dynamic on the court, Clay is one of the key pieces in her United VBA 17 Purple team that will appear in the 17 Open division. She sets well to both pins, is extremely precise with locations and is intelligent with her ball distribution. Some of the keys to her efficiency as a setter are her ability to quickly get to the ball and the way she positions her body before making contact with it. Although not very tall, Clay is impressively athletic and that helps in several aspects of her game. She’s a solid defender as well.
