Club Team Close-Up: PowerPlex 16-515

Since then, the season tipped off.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I'll make it out to some events through the season and will be at regionals, but wanted to continue highlighting some teams in conjunction with in-person evaluations.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's take a look at PowerPlex 16-515 today:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215729' first='Makenzie' last='Sloan'], '25, MB, Indianola - </strong>Sloan (5-10) appeared in 19 varsity matches as a sophomore in '22. She contributed 18 kills and 4.0 blocks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215727' first='Maci' last='Lerseth'], '25, L/DS, Indianola - </strong>The 5-6 sophomore found her way into 30 varsity matches this past fall. She registered 29 digs, 6 aces and 6 assists. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215466' first='Aspen' last='Nelsen'], '25, OH, Indianola - </strong>Nelsen led all Class 4A sophomores with 67 aces and ranked second in kills (372) in '22. She chipped in with 131 assists, 228 digs and 12.0 blocks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215463' first='Carley' last='Craighead'], '25, OH, Ankeny Christian - </strong>Craighead paced all Class 1A sophomores with 326 kills for the state champion Eagles. She also accumulated 110 digs, 21.0 blocks and 75 aces. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215749' first='Delaney' last='Miller'], '25, OH, Ankeny Centennial - </strong>Miller cashed in on a team-best 270 kills to go with 121 digs, 33.0 blocks and 39 aces during the Jaguars' run to the state semifinals. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='390369' first='James' last='Steinbach'], '26, S, Des Moines Roosevelt - </strong>The Roughriders reached the regional finals with this freshman playing a major role. She handed out 770 assists, the second most among 5A newcomers. She also had 192 digs and 31 aces. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215470' first='Camryn' last='Overton'], '25, OH, Indianola - </strong>Overton piled up 261 kills as a 10th-grader in the Fall. She also recorded 18.0 blocks and 57 digs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215462' first='Katie' last='Quick'], '25, S, Ankeny Christian - </strong>Quick enjoyed a wonderful all-around sophomore season as evidenced by her 842 assists, 195 kills, 194 digs, 32.0 blocks and 112 aces. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='506115' first='Macey' last='Nehring'], '25, DS, Ankeny Christian - </strong>Nehring played a key role during the Eagles' march to the state title. She posted 160 kills, 62 assists, 241 digs and 84 aces. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215465' first='Reagan' last='Hanfelt'], '25, MB, Ankeny - </strong>Hanfelt should contribute for the Hawks in '23 after graduation impacted one of the state's top programs. If her club exploits are any indication, she should find a lot of success in varsity ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='215467' first='Zoey' last='Belt'], '25, L, Indianola - </strong>Belt showed up in 11 varsity matches in '22, appearing in 16 sets. She was credited with 2 digs and converted 7 of 8 serve attempts. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
