First up: outside hitters. These left-side hitters have a lot to prove in 2023, and we’ll be looking for a big club season from this group.
Is there a better breakout candidate for this feature than Jones? We’ve mentioned how anxious we are to see Jones get back on the court after missing most of last year’s club season. She recently gave us a glimpse of her old form by competing at our Nebraska Top 250 Expo last December, and that feels like a good precursor to a successful 2023 campaign for Jones.
It’s worth adding the caveat that Brislen may spend some time at opposite during the 2023 season. Regardless, this Omaha Westside product has also shown the ball control skills and versatility to contribute on the left pin, too. That multi-position impact should be fun to follow as Brislen represents Premier 17 Black this spring.
The Traudt name has become synonymous with athletic achievement in the Grand Island area, and Tia carries that torch well as an outside hitter. She has spent her prep career playing up an age group, so keep an eye on Traudt with VCNebraska 17 Elite this year. Though she’s younger than most of her club peers, you wouldn’t know it by the way Traudt can take over matches.
We’re heading over to the Nebraska Elite gym for another outside hitter who made late-season waves in 2022. Layson will compete with Nebraska Elite 16 Maverick this season after last year’s magical Open-qualifying campaign with 15 Matrix. I can’t wait to see what this group can accomplish as 16s.
Osmera is setting up to be a serious scoring threat on the left pin alongside Traudt. This pin hitter is one of several talented, high-flying hitters to come out of Wahoo, and Osmera’s marked improvement in the 2022 high school season is a good prelude to club success with VCN 16 Elite.

Liebsack is a multi-talented pin hitter who will compete with this season’s Premier Nebraska 16 Silver squad. In last year’s stint with the 15s, Liebsack showed she can hit a variety of combination plays and is not just limited to attacking on the outside. I’ll be keeping an eye on this Bennington prep athlete as we turn toward this year’s action.

Clearly, Nebraska Elite 16 Maverick will have some interesting pin talent to follow in Nebraska’s Class of 2025. Miller has a chance to chart her own path in the Nebraska Elite gym with her all-around skills on the pin. Don’t get too attached to a single starting lineup for 16 Maverick, because this group has depth.
