These athletes haven’t even completed two years of high school and many of them are veterans are the state tournament floors, collecting hardware, and being atop of the podium at a national level. Here are the top ten athletes of the Class of 2025 and how I broke down the best of the best.

The Top Outsides
I’ll take all of the above. All of these athletes are among the top players in the state regardless of class. I’ve seen all of them compete at the high school as well as the club level. What was the deciding factor?
I saw Abbey Hayes Abbey Hayes 6'2" | OH North Scott | 2025 State #82 Nation IA standout among the top attackers at the 15 Open level for Six Pack in the 2022 club season and she followed up with a big time high school season. Hayes was huge for Six Pack when they qualified for 15 Open by finishing in the top four of the Windy City Qualifier defeating some of the top teams in the country.
Molly Shafer Molly Shafer OH Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2025 State IA has improved tremendously since the club season when I was able to see her play more at the state tournament and at the Iowa Top 250. She’s playing higher, stronger, and her ability to score out of the back court is going to be a huge weapon for her. She has proven she can handle a high volume of swings and be a primary passer. Her Club Ignit squad from last year had a strong finish and will look for another big season in 2023.
Chloe Meester Chloe Meester OH Mount Vernon | 2025 State #37 Nation IA is going to be one of the top prospects out of Iowa in the Class of 2025. Her upside is scary where I think she could be a big time college player with her athleticism and physicality. Meester has the ability to score points when the other side is keying on her. She was the MVP of the 15 USA Division as Adrenaline took home a national title. As Meester continues to develop a backcourt game and has the chance to showcase her talent at the open level her stock is going to rise and college coaches from across the country will knocking on her door.
The Setters
Highlights
Ellie Schubert Ellie Schubert 5'9" | S Davenport Assumption | 2025 State IA , Kate Shafer Kate Shafer S Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont | 2025 State IA , Ella Rogers Ella Rogers 6'1" | S Dowling | 2025 State IA , and Katie Quick Katie Quick 5'7" | S Ankeny Christian | 2025 State IA are among the top setters in the state where they all bring something a little different to the table. Schubert and Quick won state titles this past fall and did it a little differently for their teams. Schubert had over 1000 assists, with many of those going to her sister Ava Schubert Ava Schubert 6'1" | RS Assumption | 2023 State #153 Nation IA on the right side. Her game revolves around her being savvy, smooth, and a high IQ for the game. Whether its finding the best match up for her attacker, or finding the other side of the court for herself, she knows what needs to get done for her team to win. Quick is a mismatch nightmare. She’s so good with her feet and hands and when she is in the front row, she’s not afraid to jump and swing. Quick is also a top softball player in the state.
Shafer and Rogers are long and athletic. They are well rounded in all aspects of the game and know how to play at a high level where their high school teams advanced to the state semifinals. Rogers was a big piece to the puzzle where she ran the show for Six Pack enroute to their 15 Open bid.
