From liberos who command the backrow, attackers who can score plenty of points, and athletes who can do it all. Here are some of the top available athletes to recruit in the Illinois Class of 2024.
Kenny is one of the most complete players in the Midwest with her ability to set and swing. As a setter, it all starts with her feet, her footwork allows her to remain neutral and consistent with her tempo and placement. As an attacker, she has a really heavy swing from the right side. She is someone on the court who makes others around her better and for Kenny, that can look different every match. She can always be relied upon to dish, but she can also score a lot of points herself – so dynamic!

Long, athletic, and a big lefty swing is what Vetter brings to the table. I remember first seeing Vetter as a 15s playing knowing that she could have a very promising future. With Adversity ‘ last=”] having two Big Ten outsides in Ava Pratt Ava Pratt 6'1" | OH Glenbrook South | 2024 State #63 Nation IL (Northwestern) and Morgan Jones Morgan Jones 6'1" | OH Huntley | 2024 State #116 Nation IL (Indiana), Vetter and Jessica Kurpeikis Jessica Kurpeikis 5'10" | RS Marist | 2024 State IL really spread the offense from pin to pin. They will be competing in Kansas City this weekend where this team has goals of playing in their home area for nationals in the 17 Open Division.

Keep it simple. That’s what Marquardt does when it comes to her libero position. She anticipates and reads extremely well where she is in the spot before the attacker makes contact. She is accustomed to playing at a high level and is a well rounded player where she is actually a standout setter for her high school team. Her cool, calm presence brings a great vibe to her court where this Sky High team has a great chemistry that comes in clutch when things get tight.
Falk knows what its like to be part of championship teams. She won a state title as part of Mother McAuley this past fall and is part of a 1st Alliance squad who is always playing in big matches come day three of qualifiers. She’s been a libero, she’s been a DS, she plays at a high level no matter what jersey she has on, she positively contributes to her team. This 1st Alliance group will be in the power pools in Kansas City this weekend and will be in the hunt for more big day two and day three matches.

I really noticed Molloy at the Prep Dig Gauntlet in the 2022 club season where she was so consistent for her Mission team who is so scrappy. This team has been together the past couple years where they have been steadily rising among the top clubs in Illinois. Molloy has quite a range while also being able to take pace off of a hard swing. She can handle a heavy volume of tough serves as well where she can keep her side of the net consistently in system.
So athletic. Grevengoed has such a spring in her approach where she can really get up and hammer. She is also a really solid six rotation player where she is a primary passer and transitions smoothly from passing to attacking. As a top attacker, teams will serve at her, but she can handle the heavy volume of serve receive as it gets her in rhythm to attacking. She is also a legit threat to score points out of the backrow and out of system.
I’ve seen Ploder play plenty of times, but seeing her this past fall at Barrington High School, one of the top large school programs in the state. With a high touch, wide wing span, her length is going to cause the other side of the net a lot of problems. She is a fierce blocker and can transition smoothly from blocking to attacking. The chemistry she has with her high school and club setter, Gonzaga commit Jenna Meitzler Jenna Meitzler 6'1" | S Barrington | 2024 State #117 Nation IL allows for a major presence out of the middle for Sky High .
I was able to see Messenger play this past fall at the Huntley Invite where she was able to show she was a dangerous attacker and can be used as an attacker in the front and backrow. What sets her apart as an attacker is how fast she is to the ball. Whether she is in the front or backrow attacking, she is aggressive in getting her feet the ball. She also knows how to use all of her shots depending on what the defense gives her while also using the block to her advantage.
The Class of 2024 liberos are really deep in Illinois, they are well trained, know how to compete at a high level, and plenty have a bright future at the next level. Hernandez has all of this going for her and commands the back row with such a presence. This is a fun Illini Elite 17 Cardinal team who will be a tough matchup all season. A lot of dynamic athletes and with Hernandez in the backrow, they have a great start to be in system.

Salata is another top swiss army knife player where she can do a little bit of everything. She was a top attacker for Nazareth this past fall where she won a state title in 2021. For Adversity ‘ last=”] 17 Adidas she has been setting. That could be her future at the college level – either way, she’s a high level athlete with a really dynamic skill set. This will be a big club season for Salata where her ceiling for the next level is incredibly high.
