Each have their fair share of high-level athletes, and each will have their work cut out for them tomorrow afternoon. Here are the two teams, the top players still available and the courts they’re playing on.
Ignite 18 Elite, Court 38 at 1430 on Saturday
From “the region” comes the flagship squad for Ignite Elite. Three players stand out to me on this squad, starting with Lexi Cripe Lexi Cripe 5'9" | OH South Newton | 2023 IN (’23, 5-9 OH, jersey #17). She’s a primary passing six-rotation outside that can terminate from anywhere and receive serve with the best of them. Brianne Salinas Brianne Salinas 6'0" | MB Lake Central | 2023 IN (’23, 6-0 MB, jersey #12) uses her size and skill to frustrate opposing offenses and can hit all angles from in front of the setter. She’s an ideal M2 if you need one. The person running the show for this squad is Abigail Opilka Abigail Opilka 5'7" | S Hanover Central | 2023 IN (’23, 5-7 S, jersey #6), a no=-nonsense setter who leads by example and locates the ball well in all situations and systems.
KeAloha 182 Teahupo’o, Court 35 at 1530 on Saturday
One hour after Ignite’s start, the “2s” team from Valpo has their own combination of athletes in the same positions. Audrey Nohos Audrey Nohos 6'1" | MB Andrean | 2023 State IN (’23, 6-2 MB, jersey #18) is the big that plays bigger than her 6-2 frame and can be either an M1 or an M2 at the next level. Her length will give opponents fits, and she attacks high, using all of her size to terminate balls. Molly Prisby (’23, 5-10 OH/MB, jersey #8) can play multiple positions. She played mostly middle in high school, but will probably project to being a pin attacker and defender at either pin. I personally like her on the right, but she can be a three-rotation outside as well. Hannah Joseph (’23, 5-8 S, jersey #14) is the main cog that helps this offensive engine run, and has quick feet to get her to any in- or out-of-system ball. She locates well and always seems to find the right attacker in the right situation.
