For example, a no jump hit, quick feet moving to a spot in a flash, and a relentless support of covering hitters. These athletes have to be watched for a little while those attributes must be repeatable to witness their legitimacy.
Ashton Rogers (2025) | DS/L | Bakersfield Volleyball Club
Teammates look to the direction of Ashton Rogers before a serve. More than simple communication, the confidence they have in her simply by seeking her out before a play is great to see. Rogers has quick feet and gets a touch on many serves and hits. Even being fleet of foot, she maintains a ready position and takes no shortcuts.
Riley Crider (2025) | S | San Diego Volleyball Club
To practice a consistent footwork approach to an X spot and then setting a ball is an incredible mental discipline of Riley Crider. She uses long strides when possible and all her positioning results in a slightly above forehead height point of contact. When out of system, it is excellent to see her watch her backsets go to the intended target.
Macy McFarland (2025) | S | SoCal Athletics
A 6-2 setter, Macy McFarland, finds a high priority in covering her hitters. The thought may be because they get blocked, but no, it is part of her responsibility as a setter. Her footwork follows a right, left, right when jump setting and then adds another left step when she stays in the front row to hit as part of the 6-2 offense.
Elena Nikovee (2025) | OH | Reef
A 3 rotation outside, Elena Nikovee, has the ambition to step in to take a pass in her seam and then works to get out wide enough to hit. Nikovee is the kind of attacker that uses a reverse back bend to generate power into her paced hits. In addition to her ambition, she is also aware to step in to left front and set the second ball as a setter calls help.
Madelyn Feramisco (2025) | OH | Valley Volleyball Academy
Deception is usually a setter’s game and Madelyn Feramisco brings that element to her game when hitting. Keeping both arms high, Feramisco drops a tip with her right hand even when a blocker may think she is going to hit. That continues with her strategic hits off the block to reset the team for a free ball formation.
Ava Poinsett (2025) | OH | COAST
Ava Pointsett is unlike many hitters in that can successful point score without an approach. The converse is true of her also in that she can start an approach from the sideline and then land halfway in the court to get on an inside set. The passing form for Poinsett is great in that she can absorb a short serve very well to target.
