This is one of the toughest Qualifiers to play in since it garners attention from two of the most talented states for indoor volleyball in Texas and California. Both states have dominated club volleyball for quite a while and this weekend was a testament to that. Let’s take a look at the players who stood out to me for a variety of reasons.
Suli Davis Suli Davis 6'1" | OH Colleyville Heritage | 2025 State #9 Nation TX [2025] 6-1 Outside (HS: Colleyville Heritage/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Suli is currently ranked as the 3rd best overall prospect according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Colleyville Heritage High School and also for the nationally recognized Drive Nation program. Last year as a freshman playing up on an older team she was fantastic and this year only the age group has changed. She is still as dynamic as always and very a tough out for opponents. We have covered her quite a bit over the past couple of years but every adjective used on her play is totally warranted. While many of us said that she was a player to watch before the tourney started, only she could control her output on the court. And boy did she put on a solid show against some amazing competition. Her star-studded team did extremely well capturing second place overall securing a bid to USAV Junior Nationals and she was one of the main reasons why. Her golden right arm and superb defense out of the back row was on full display when the going got tough in crucial must win matches to advance to day three. It is so much fun to watch her on the court as she is a star amongst stars. If the tournament gave out All-Star awards, she is definitely a player who would have earned one. We are very proud of the way she plays and are happy that we get to cover her.
Arianna Reyna Arianna Reyna 5'6" | S Forney | 2025 TX [2025] 5-6 Setter (HS: Forney/Club: Arete/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Arianna is currently an unranked prospect according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on my watch list now that I have seen her play a few times in person. She plays at Forney High School and also for the Arete Volleyball club program. I was very interested to watch this team in action against such great California competition in the 16 Open division. What I saw was that Miss Reyna is a fierce competitor and can absolutely ball at the highest level. Her small frame still packs a huge punch as she is able to push the ball to both pins from any location on the court with ease. She uses a very fast release on the ball that still is able to come out of her hands very soft and clean. Her back set is one of the cleanest and fastest releases I have seen in a very long time. What I love about her play the most is that it is like having a libero play in the setter position as she is able to dig any ball anywhere near her zone. Very rarely was her body not in a great postured position to set the ball, which totally helps her accuracy in locating each set well. Arianna also demonstrates a great understanding of dispersing the ball to all hitters in order to keep the opposition off-balance.
Maylynn Mitchell Maylynn Mitchell 6'0" | OH Orange Lutheran | 2025 State #137 Nation CA [2025] 6-0 Outside (HS: Santiago/Club: Forza1 North/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Maylynn is currently an unranked prospect according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. Once I update them for her grad class, she will for sure be listed. She plays at Santiago High School and also plays club for the Forza1 North volleyball program. I was introduced to this young lady last summer at USAV Junior nationals when I saw raw power on the left side walking by a court. I stopped and knew this was someone I should be taking notes on. This year she has gotten older, stronger, and better at her position. Watching her play the game is so much fun because she can rack up points for her team in a hurry. Maylynn takes a picturesque approach on the left side and it is beautiful to watch. Constantly changing her hitting angles with solid hand contact allows her to score points in a variety of ways around the block and also tooling it as well. Every now and then she will also use great court vision to see the hole and exploit it with an off-speed shot/tip. Miss Mitchell is definitely a name to know and put on your short list in the 2025 class. She can definitely help a college roster score more points so check her out.
