This hitter, Maya Gonzalez is aggressive and assertive making her a great option to set. Her toughness is as gnarly as the bark on a fruitless fig tree as she stays with the play by moving her feet to be in a prepared spot. From opponent serve or hit, one might hear the feet of Gonzalez go “meep, meep” as those feet do not stop. Her approach means business so blocks need to bring their A game as she hits the ball to the back half. That approach of hers sets her up to wait and swing through the ball quickly. Those roadrunner-like feet give her an natural adaptation that is seen most when hitting behind a setter that is on the move and a quick tipshot to the middle of the court.

moves through a lot of court with her long strides. She gets outside the lines of the court by backpedaling and just as quickly she breaks down her momentum to get back on the court to hit the ball. Garner manages a her hitting like a “Buy One, Get One” sale at a retailer with an occasional fast in approach and soft hit out to the middle. It looks like her point scoring hit is engineering a set off the blocker’s arms. As good as she is on the net, she is great away from the net too. She starts and ends her hitting approach with a body posture to hit all areas of the court. When Reiss Collier gets the opportunity to hit, she is ready and waiting for that set. Being always ready to hit means that before, during, and after she will be ready for the next phase in the hitter action. Additionally, she will be ready to do it again if the play dictates to go again. As most rallys play out, she pays a lot of attention to the action before her approach getting her in position to make excellent contact. Keep watching after her a consistent approach as the armswing of Collier is loaded, quick and through before a blcoker knows it. No matter the situation, she keeps her same armswing making her a truly difficult hitter to defend. Strength versus strength is her game verse a blocker and when there is an open net she will score. She is additionally very aware of the action on the court and moves to always keep an eye on the ball.

Ready, ready, ready is a descriptive term for Carly Hayes. As a right handed rightside, Hayes consistently has an intent on where to hit and she additionally will follow through on that intent. A patient hitter that has great athleticism to move slow to fast. During her movement, she keeps her eye on the ball and can punish the leather of that ball. The offspeed game of Hayes is excellent with versatility that challenges any staid players. Her placement of the ball and shoulders create a foundation to keep on hitting. Patience and vision to hit the ball to the many zones of the court make her an option on the rightside to add tallies in the stat book.
