I was in heaven watching some amazing volleyball over the three-day weekend of this wonderful event put on by USA Volleyball. This series will be about those players that stood out to me while watching their play. Let’s meet a few of those that stood out for various reasons.
Addison Worley Addison Worley 5'7" | OH Moore | 2025 State OK [2025] 5-7 Outside (HS: Moore/Club: Oklahoma Charge/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Addison is currently ranked as the 4th best overall prospect according to the 2025 Prep Dig Oklahoma State Rankings. She plays for Moore High School and plays club for Oklahoma Charge. As coaches and scouts, we talk about athleticism a lot. It is a word that gets thrown around in a lot of different aspects. When it comes to this word being used for Miss Worley, it is totally warranted. When an opposing coach looks at her, they might overlook her because of her height, but if they do, they will be sorely mistaken. She will light you up in a hurry from anywhere on the court. She takes a very mean and aggressive approach to the ball on the left pin and unloads a fury of power and pace to her opponent. Timing is everything for a smaller outside and Addison is a master at it. Her hand contact is amazing as she is able to move it around the ball to create the perfect angle to keep it in the court. This young lady has every shot in the book and she uses them all in different circumstances to score for her squad. I love how they run specific play sets for her out of the back row when they need a kill out of defensive transition. We are very high on her and she is one of those players who deserves a look from a college coach.
Curry Kendall Curry Kendall 6'1" | OH Bishop Kelley | 2024 State OK [2024] 6-1 Outside (HS: Bishop Kelley/Club: Ultimate Performance/Verbal: Indiana State)
Curry is currently ranked as the 2nd best overall prospect according to the 2024 Prep Dig Oklahoma State Rankings. She plays for Bishop Kelley High School and plays club for the Ultimate Performance VBC program. This young lady is one of the best players in her grad class and deserves to be ranked nationally also. I have been following her junior volleyball career for a while now and she continues to produce spectacular statistics for every team she plays for. Many different players can score points, but there are those select few that when it comes down to crunch time, you want them to have the ball in their hands. Miss Kendall is exactly the type of player that can deliver like the Amazon Prime driver…on time! The Indiana State commit wowed every spectator that lined up to watch their Gold Bracket match that went to a deciding third set. It was a nail-biting thriller that showed everyone just how dangerous of a point scorer she truly is. Although her team didn’t come out on top, she proved to the nation that she is one of the best players in it with her display. She is a true six rotation outside who can affect the game in many different ways. She will be an immediate impact player for Indiana State from the moment she steps on campus. Luckily for us, we can still watch her compete for another year.
Mikayla Gray Mikayla Gray 5'10" | S Killeen Chaparral | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-9 Setter/Right Side (HS: Killeen Chaparral/Club: Roots/Verbal: Uncommited)
Mikayla is currently ranked as the 65th best overall prospect in the state according to the 2025 Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Killeen Chaparral High School and plays club for Roots out of the Austin area. Some players are just gifted with natural athletic ability and Miss Gray is definitely blessed with some. She is one of the stars amongst stars for her squad and I was lucky enough to watch her a few times this tourney. Her speed of approach, quickness off of the ground, and lightning quick arm swing when attacking is something that will catch the casual observer off guard. She will dazzle you with those abilities and then shock you when you watch her in another position. Setting is something that not all can do at a high level, but Mikayla excels in the position also. Her hands are very smooth and she glides around the court like she is dancing with beautiful footwork. Any coach would love to have such a versatile player on their roster and you would not be disappointed if you give her a look. I think she is definitely a diamond in the rough and am shocked that no one has scooped her up. We will be watching her progress very closely and are happy to report back to you with updates. Stay tuned for more.
