A lefty, Gray combines technical and physical skills in a way that not many other setters do, opening up a number of possibilities in her game. She’s super athletic and that helps when she needs to track a pass off the net or set a tight pass into it. Gray’s playmaking ability is tremendous as she manages to remain accurate with her locations regardless of the situation and does a very good job with her distribution. Because of her length and intelligence, her setter dumps are typically lethal.

The starting setter of Killeen Chaparral High School and the Roots 17-1 Green club team, Gray is another special talent in the Class of 2025, ranking eighth among the setters and 59th overall. She’s the complete package at setter, meaning that she combines the technical, physical and mental skills needed to thrive in the position. She’s excellent at keeping her team in a strong offensive rhythm, doing whatever she can to keep all hitters involved and remaining consistent with her locations. A lefty, Gray uses her athleticism extremely well at the net, scoring off of setter dumps and doing solid work with her blocking.

She is, in some ways, a dream setter for many coaches as not many players in her position are able to combine technical and physical tools in the way she does. Gray has superior ballhandling skills and runs the team’s offense with great precision and good decisions. A lefty and an extremely athletic player, she’s an asset at the net, blocking well, scoring on setter dumps and even taking up hitting duties with tremendous efficiency when needed.

What can’t Mikayla do on the court? As a setter, she is quick, clean, and aggressive. She always gets her feet to the ball and has great form. Mikayla also showed grit on defense and was fearless when running down balls. She is a lefty with a big vert and great court awareness – making her an impact player on offense as well.

Gray is a strong candidate to be the most athletic and physical setter in the 16 Bid division with her Roots 161 Green team. Her athleticism shows in a variety of different ways as the setter is very quick with her movement on the court, jumps well, has incredible hangtime and has a very quick left arm. Gray’s touch on the ball is always very clean and precise, giving her hitters excellent stability in terms of getting balls at the same location. The setter is a strong hitter herself, going up high at the net and finding sharp angles with her skilled left hand. She’s also a very intelligent player, who often makes good calls in unexpected situations.

A left-handed prospect with great length, Gray doubles up as a setter and right side hitter for her Roots 161 Green team that will be in action in the 16 USA division. She’s great at running the team’s offense as besides having a very clean touch on the ball, she’s always very accurate and smart with her ball distribution. Gray is also a strong offensive player as she jumps really well, hits very sharp angles and can swing with impressive precision from the right and the left. A very complete player, she also makes some positive impact with her defense and can pass too if needed.
