We were super excited to run our second session of the Sunshine Classic Showcase in conjunction with the Sunshine Classic National Qualifier in Orlando, FL on Thursday, March 2nd. We had some of the best players from many states attend. Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. Some players stood out for their dynamic physical skills and some stood out for intangibles like leadership, effort and attitude. Let’s meet a few of the players who earned the honor of Top Performer at the Sunshine Showcase.

[2024] 6-0 Outside (HS: Cinco Ranch/Club: Katy United/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Makenna is currently ranked as the 99th best overall prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays for Cinco Ranch High School and also plays club for the Katy United program. I was super excited to see Miss Loo in the gym wearing our uniform as I have been a big fan of hers over the last few years. We run a very fast paced and high-energy showcase that Makenna is built for. I love how much fire she plays with and she showed it during the showcase. Every court coach was in awe of her ability to score in a variety of ways. She can tool off of the block, turn down the line or unleash raw power on a cross-court shot also. One big part of her game that she was able to showcase was her ball control. She is a sure fire can’t miss six-rotation player who is ready to compete at the college level now in my opinion. I loved her swing blocking technique as she timed her blocks perfectly almost every single time. Makenna can score from anywhere on the court whether in the front row or back row and is the star of the show on most courts. We will continue to enjoy watching her grow and can’t wait to hear which school has offered her. She will be a star at the next level for sure so don’t miss out on this young lady if you need a solid leader of women.
Haydin Froehlich [2026] 6-0 Setter (HS: Ponte Vedra/Club: OTVA/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Haydin is an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Florida State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She should have no problem making the list when it is released soon. She plays at Ponte Vedra High School and also for the nationally recognized OTVA club program. Every college coach in the country should have her name in their short list from what I saw at the showcase. This young lady is only a freshman but plays like a senior already. We had her playing with the older competition and she did not bat an eye when it came to proving herself. Her lengthy frame makes her a great target for any school who needs a setter who can run a 5-1 and not lose any stability at the net. She is able to compete at a very high level against stellar attackers. I loved her footwork as she did not let her length bother her at tracking down errant passes. She has solid footwork that will only get faster and better as she continues to progress in the position. The ball comes out of her hands so quickly and every set was accurate over and over to each location. Every blocker must honor her jump set as she can be a very credible attacker when front row. I will for sure be talking her name up to our Florida scouts when they are selecting the State Rankings for her class soon.

Lake Travis | 2025
State
TX
[2025] 6-0 Outside (HS: Lake Travis/Club: Austin Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Alexis is currently ranked as the 35th best overall prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Lake Travis High School and also for the Austin Performance club program. I was lucky enough to watch her team multiple times this season and I also got invited to watch them practice on night in their gym. Having watched her from afar, I was very interested in getting an up close view of her in our drills with some players that she wasn’t used to competing with/against. Sometimes this can hinder players because they are a little uncomfortable in the situation, but not Alexis. She played her game each time her number was called and it was beautiful to watch. When you watch her play, you see a player who is very comfortable in her own skin and is ready for the big stage. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be a collegiate player and be ready to step into a major role on any team that offers her. Her frame, skill-set in the outside position, and power are all next level. One thing that really stood out was how well she battled at the net during tight balls. I loved how she processed and then timed the block. Her strong upper body allowed her to solidify a firm press on the net to seal it away from would be attackers. We are very high on her ceiling and she deserves a few looks already as a sophomore.
