I usually work my way down starting with 18s heavy at the beginning of January, 17s at the end of January through the summer, 16s Presidents Day through summer, and 15s April through the summer. For the 15s age group, there are a lot of moving pieces where athletes are still growing, they are figuring out team dynamics, and even still solidifying their position. Parents and athletes in the 15s group, my best advice is to be patient, keep with the process.
I was able to see some 15s play at Bedford Park, but I will be doing a full court blitz of 15s come Windy City Qualifier in April. I watched a couple rounds over the weekend and here are a few names I have who were impressive at the Great Lakes Region Championships 15 Open Division.
*This is not an all tournament team, I did not get a chance to see all teams compete, I’ll be at NLQ and Windy City Qualifier for the next round of coverage.

– Michio 15 National
Outside Hitter
Schara is a flyer on the pin and a key point scorer for Michio who took home the championship. She is someone who can pass, serve receive, and score points. She can score from the backrow, she can score from the outside, and anywhere along the front row. Her hand contact is always solid where she can manipulate the ball in many ways while still getting a major strike that puts a ton of pace on the swing. Michio will have an exciting qualifier season ahead of them after the momentum they have built in power league and the GLR Championships.

Outside Hitter
Wire may not be very big on the outside, but she puts everything into her approach and swing. She packs a punch. This Mission 15 National team is scrappy, they find ways to keep the rally going and have the grit to go point for point with top teams. Wire does the same where she is a key passer in the backrow and is a primary serve receiver. As her career progresses, she could be a libero prospect as well or I could even see her playing beach with her all round ability.
Bridget Ferriter Bridget Ferriter 6'0" | OH Lockport Township | 2026 IL – Adversity 15G Adidas
Outside Hitter
Really heavy arm. Perriter is a key outside hitter for Adversity where she can score points in bunches. She can make solid hand to ball contact, there’s a lot of pace that makes it tough for the other side to stay in system. She can find the deep corner or sharp cross, even hitting it off the block can work to her advantage.

Outside Hitter
Ferriter packs a punch with her swing while her counterpart on the outside has a little bit of a different style of game. Zibell plays with speed, she plays to the quick tempo and is a six rotation high flyer who can do a lot of special thing on the court. She is a high motor athlete who is always on the move and involved in the play. She will spend most of her time hitting on the outside, but can transition well to swing anywhere out of the front row out of serve receive. Her game has a high ceiling.

Middle Blocker
Cage has a major presence as a middle blocker where she can hit in front or behind the setter. She brings a lot of strength and physicality, but can also go from pin to pin to close the block. Her presence will make the other side think twice about what kind of shot they are going to hit. She reads well and can adjust well to being able to get her hands over the net and staying strong, avoiding getting tooled.
Molly Daugherty – VC United 151 Elite (Title Photo)
Setter
Super athletic. Daugherty is probably 5’10 and moves really well around the court where she has such a command of her team. With her all around athleticism, she can be used as a setter or an attacker. I saw her set on Sunday morning and she was able to get her hands on the ball and put her attackers in position to score points. She is also one who can be offensive and provide a solid block as well.
Madison Anspaugh – VC United 151 Elite
Outside Hitter
Anspaugh is going to be one to watch where she has plenty of length and will be an attacker teams will have to be aware of. I saw her hit on the outside, but she will be able to swing and score points from anywhere in the front row.
