Calls will be coming in, athletes will be shuffling through emails, camps, and plenty of summer activities. These are athletes to get on campus from the Class of 2025. Some of these may be obvious, being the top players on top teams, however there are some names who could be flying under the radar – can’t miss kids. Here are 10 2025s from 10 states who need to be on campus.
Annalise Grant Annalise Grant 5'5" | DS/L Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA – Six Pack 17-1 (Iowa)
Libero
I remember watching Grant play in 2022 as Six Pack went on to be in plenty of day three qualifier matches where there were bids at stake. Unfortunately, she was out this past high school season with an injury and has bounced back really strong continuing to play up an age group on the Six Pack 17s while in the Class of 2025. Grant has an extremely efficient game as a libero where she has great footwork and platform awareness. Iowa is loaded with plenty of high level liberos in the Class of 2025 and Grant is rising on the radar this club season.
Carly Gilk Carly Gilk 6'2" | RS Champlin Park | 2025 State #27 Nation MN – MN Select 16-1 (Minnesota)
Right Side
Gilk is no secret in Minnesota, she is one of top players and overall athletes in the class. She will be contacted by plenty of schools across the country. Her skill set is really unique where she is a six rotation left handed outside. Her athleticism and physicality is up there among the Class of 2025. She has a high contact point, is extremely strong with her block, and has the range in the backrow.
Isabella Vander Velden Isabella Vander Velden 6'1" | MB Luxemburg-Casco | 2025 State WI – FC Elite 16 White (Wisconsin)
Middle Blocker
Vander Velden has had a huge season for FC Elite 16 White. She has the length and physicality as a middle blocker where she can do a lot of positive things for her side of the net. I’ve seen her in a high school setting, showcase, and a club tournament where she has progressively gotten better each time she takes the court. With her wide wing span and athleticism, her ceiling is extremely high.
April Rice April Rice 5'11" | S Lemont | 2025 State IL – Adversity 16 Adidas (Illinois)
Setter
The lefty setters are so tough to defend and there are times where April Rice April Rice 5'11" | S Lemont | 2025 State IL will take a second ball to turn and burn. She runs a great offense where she gets her feet to the ball and will jump set to speed up the tempo whenever she can. This Adversity 16 Adidas squad is a lot of fun to watch – they compete. Rice has played right side, setter, and is a really solid defender in the back row. However, she always has trump card where she can score points on the second contact which has the defense respecting her every time she jumps.
Jordan Smith Jordan Smith 6'4" | OH Francis Howell Central | 2025 State #59 Nation MO – Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite (Missouri)
Right Side/Pin
I had no idea Jordan Smith Jordan Smith 6'4" | OH Francis Howell Central | 2025 State #59 Nation MO was a 2025 when I saw her playing on the Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite team. Smith will be one of the top prospects out of Missouri where she is an extremely tough mismatch on the right side. At 6’4, athletic, and physical she is so dominant. I was able to see her first at Triple Crown where she was dominant in their match to advance to the elite eight. With her ability to play on both pins and be an offensive and defensive threat, it will be a big time prospect for the local schools to recruit.
Lily Hayes – OT 16 T JP (Florida)
Libero
So athletic, Hayes is so quick yet under control with how she commands the backrow as a libero. I was able to see this OT squad get their open bid in a highly competitive Windy City Qualifier. This group will have a busy summer where they will look to have another successful double national stretch where they were in the final four of AAU 15 Open and the gold crossovers at USAV. Hayes was a 15 Open All American in Orlando. She is next level.
Elena Chappell Elena Chappell 6'0" | MB Zionsville | 2025 State IN – Circle City 16 Black (Indiana)
Middle Blocker
I really like this Circle City 16 Black team where I was able to see them play at the Windy City Qualifier where they took home the 16 USA title. There is a ton of balance on this team, but Chappell is able to score a lot of points out of the middle. With Chappell scoring out of the middle, it allowed everything else to open for their attackers. Defensively, Chappell can close the block and work quickly in transition to be available to attack. She swings with a high IQ and can find the open spot in the deep corners.
Jordyn Moore Jordyn Moore 6'1" | S Argyle | 2025 State TX – Excel 16 National Red (Texas)
Setter/Pin
Moore is another athlete who I had never seen play until the Northern Lights Qualifier in March. At 6’0 tall, long, and strong, Moore has great feet to get to the ball while remaining neutral to set any of her attackers. While in the front row, she can be used as an attacker, can score on the second contact, and provides a strong block. There isn’t a huge weakness to her game and there is a ton of upside where she can do a lot of positive things for her side of the net.
Anna Jelinek Anna Jelinek 5'9" | DS/L Norris | 2025 State NE – Nebraska One 16 Synergy (Nebraska)
Outside Hitter/Libero
Jelinek continues to impress on the pin where she is the ideal six rotation outside hitter. Her shot selection is elite with how she has such great court vision along with the ability to execute the shot. The defense can’t cover everything, and Jelinek will find a way to score points, she’ll use the block as well. Her future at the next level could be as an outside hitter or even as a DS/Libero. Her ability to serve receive and pass is at the level of top liberos in the Midwest.
Taryn Kirsch – Kairos 16 Alpha (South Dakota)
Libero
Kirsch brings a lot of physicality and athleticism to the libero position. Her movement and anticipation is really strong where she is able to keep things cool when they get chaotic. Kairos has established a tradition of very fundamentally sound liberos where Kirsch fits right in line with some of the greats. She is in the heart of the Summit League where I’m sure plenty of those schools will be contacting her in June.
