One of the biggest national qualifiers there is, the Lone Star Classic has been going on for two weeks already and the third and final weekend of competition will feature as many as 11 divisions from the 15s, 16s and 17s age groups.
As expected, several teams from Texas will be on the court in Dallas this weekend and we’ll use the days leading to the event to present some of the most exciting prospects from the Lone Star State that will be competing in the Open divisions. We start with the setters:
Thiebaud is the top setter in her age group according to our 2026 Prep Dig State Rankings. She’s been doing a fantastic job running Houston Skyline 15 Royal’s offense, combining her clean touch on the ball, excellent decision-making and endless resources. Thiebaud had a stellar freshman high school season with College Station and has only gotten better during club, testing herself against elite competition. She’s great at keeping all of hitters involved and also moves very well to get to the ball. Standing at 5’11”, she has a strong presence at the net too and contributes with several blocks every match besides being a constant threat with her setter dumps.
Bello is part of a strong setting combo at HJV 15 Elite with Simone Robinson Simone Robinson 5’9″ | S Shadow Creek | 2026 State TX that has a huge impact in the team’s play. She’s an excellent ball handler and ‘smooth’ is probably the word I’d pick to describe her offense as everything seems to be going just as planned when she’s the one calling the shots. Besides very skilled on the ball, Bello is also a hard-worked and that shows when she’s playing defense as she gets a lot of touches on the right back position. She also takes up hitting duties when at the net and typically scores at a very good rate.
Highlights
Mobility can sometimes be an issue for taller setters, but that’s certainly not the case with Moore. The Excel 16 National Red playmaker is always very fluid when moving around on the court and that allows her to run her offense with incredible consistency and efficiency. Moore is very accurate with her locations and uses her high volleyball IQ to make good decisions when she has the ball at her hands. There’s really no pass she can’t track down as her height makes most overpasses ‘settable’ while her good movement gets her where she needs to be when they go away from the net.
Highlights
A very creative and aggressive player on the court, Dumas is running the offense of her strong AVA TX 16 Adidas team. Despite having only moved to the club this season, she has already developed great chemistry with her hitters and is doing a very good job in getting the best out of them. A lefty, Dumas is very skilled on the ball and can hit and score on setter dumps too. She’s also very strong physically and that allows her to explode to get to balls on defense.
Highlights
Burton will be setting for SA Juniors 17 Adidas and expect to see a lot of consistency and stability from her. She’s one of those setters who can repeatedly set the ball in the exact same location regardless of the situation, which helps hitters a lot. She’s very smooth on the ball and uses her physical strength to make plays and chase passes off the net. Burton also contributes a lot on defense and is no liability at the net, offering a strong blocking presence.
