The future of the state of Michigan volleyball looks great, as these players all showed a lot of drive and determination to go with their raw talent.
Here’s the final part of our 2026 player evaluations from the showcase.
Madison Slack, S Milan/HVVC
Slack brings a lot of natural gifts to the setter position. As a 6-foot setter, Slack is able to run an offense at a fast pace and make sets above the blockers. She showed a variety of speeds and touches on her sets during the showcase and really was able to cover a lot of ground quickly at the net. There is a lot of upside to her game.
Maezi Snyder Maezi Snyder 6'2" | MB McCutcheon | 2026 State IN , MH McCutcheon/The Academy
Snyder was easy to spot as a 6’2” middle. She was able to make contact at a high point with her sets and attack from a variety of angles. Snyder showed good recognition of opposing blockers and defenders, finding empty spaces on the floor. Snyder has a lot of upside, as she brings good movement to her already elite size.
Brooke Steeves Brooke Steeves 5'5" | S Mattawan | 2026 State MI , S Mattawan/USA Michigan
Steeves was a hustle player that was trying to do whatever she could to make a play. Her setting was consistent and she communicated well with her peers. But, it was her defensive effort and scrappiness that really stood out. She isn’t hesitant to give everything she has.
Abigail Valenzuela, OH Canton/Topaz
Valenzuela has some of the loudest thuds on her attacks. She was able to consistently put a lot of force into her swings and catch defenders off guard. At 5’7”, Valenzuela shows a lot of explosiveness off the floor and has a technically sound swing to generate the power she does.
Sarah Williams, S Oakland Christian/Michigan Elite
Williams was a setter that was willing to take chances and gamble on herself. She was an attentive player that took any coaching instruction to heart and applied it quickly. With her setting, Williams really liked to challenge the defenders and force them to make plays. Her aggressive style seemed to pay off on a lot of occasions.
Madolyne Winowski Madolyne Winowski 5'10" | S Oxford | 2026 State MI , S Oxford/Michigan Elite
A left-handed setter that stands 5’10”, Winowski was able to stand out as she also showcased a really strong swing on the right side. Winowski was a good communicator and wasn’t afraid to be in command on the court. She directed offenses well, but knew when it was her time to make a play.
