It was my first time watching all six of them and I could see why after researching, some are already committed to play on the next level. Introducing some powerhouse hitters from the 18s who have found college homes and some who are still looking.
Congratulations!! Olivia Babcock Olivia Babcock 6’3″ | OH Sierra Canyon | 2023 State #13 Nation CA has committed to the University of Pittsburg. Babcock has a topspin jump serve that is fire. The velocity, speed and heat behind her ball is amazing to see. She had three aces while I watched. She gets high in the air when she attacks the ball. She is strong and powerful. Her height is a huge benefit in every aspect of the game, hitting the ball and blocking at the net. Babcock’s confidence was very visible on the court by the way she served and moved into position, ready to receive a kill. Coached by Cari Klein and Tuan Le, wishing her the very best as she continues her career in volleyball.
Congratulations!! Milan Bayless Milan Bayless 5’11” | OH Cathedral Catholic | 2023 State CA has committed to Colgate College. Her scoring skills are associated with the different ways she attacks the ball. She can hit crosscourt, 10-foot line, tip, down line, tool the block and more to score. Bayless has a quick, strong swing that puts heat on the ball, being able to get through blocks. She has a nice vertical that gets her on top of the ball and she knows how to adjust mid-air to take advantage of any open areas. Coached by Ozhan Bahrambeygui and James Gekas, wishing her the very best on her next chapter of volleyball.
Payton Tully
Payton Tully
Congratulations!! Payton Tully has committed to Biola University. She is a strong left handed hitter who delivers on outside and right-side. She has a quick reaction at the net to pound down overpasses. Playing right-side, her attacks are unpredictable as she has great control on where the ball is going to go with her left handed hits. Tully also uses her high hands to penetrate the net and block her opponents from scoring. Coached by Juan Figueroa, Talen Palpallatoc and Caitlyn Bato, wishing her the very best on her next level of volleyball play.
Emily Lumpkins
Emily Lumpkins
Emily Lumpkins is an all-around six-rotation player who is dominant on offense and defense. She attacks and blocks front row at the net, she covers, digs, and passes from back row. Her hits go through or tool the block and she can adjust going full speed to attack into tipping in an open area to score. Her volleyball IQ is noticeable on how she covers the tips and adjusts her hits to score. Her speed and good footwork help with her reaction to wherever the ball goes. Coached by Nicolette Bloomer and Jacquelyn Johnson, Lumpkins is a hidden gem who would be a great asset to any program on the next level looking for a player who hustles and brings good energy to the court.
Brooke Lawson
Brooke Lawson
Brooke Lawson gets high in the air when she’s blocking at the net or hitting the ball. She can adjust to off-sets and still make a play. She can dig from middle back and get a good pass off to the setter. Lawson played defense in middle back receiving attacks and passing them to the setter. Coached by Elizabeth Perez and Tonya Goettsche, Lawson would be an asset to any program looking for an outside, right-side or defensive specialist.
Savannah Kater
Savannah Kater
Savannah Kater is listed as an outside hitter on the roster but played right-side in the game I watched. She has no fear of diving onto the floor to stop an attack from landing or to recover a tip. Her hustle on the court is what caught my eye and she saved some points from being scored by diving and digging up balls. Karter has a serve that can get her opponents out of system making it hard to receive and she can pass the ball. Coached by Daryl Adams, Savannah Kater is on the radar.
