There were a lot of athletes making big contributions and definitely some to keep an eye on over the summer as college camps start up and players visit campuses looking for the perfect fit. Here are a few 2024s that caught my eye at the Show Me Qualifier.
M1 17-1
Aldrich is a middle blocker with a big presence at the net. She also ran a really nice slide route with her setter Ellery Clark Ellery Clark 5’6″ | S Benilde St Margaret | 2024 State MN . Aldrich can run a quick tempo in front and has a high contact on the ball.
Perry put up a really big block with Aldrich making outside hitters think twice about calling for the set. She is laterally quick and gets her hands up to seal the net. Perry is strong and athletic with the ability to power through and split the opposing defense in front of her.
Richie does a nice job tracking the ball in serve receive and keeping her team in system. She makes the libero position look effortless and easy with calm platform and clean angles. She plays for Mound Westonka and will be a player to watch this fall.
Northern Lights 17-Red
Lola Beck
Lola Beck
I really like the passing angles Beck creates when she is in serve receive. Beck hits a deep cross corner with ease and works off the hands of the blockers. She can also hit a gnarly cut shot and hit a roll shot. She does a great job of staying calm and steady when her team needs.
Lindsay Conner
Lindsay Conner
Conner takes a really nice swing from either pin and can hit the ball hard off any hands left up high. She has a loose arm and high contact point with the ability to find ways around the block. Conner is quick in transition and sets a strong block.
Gospodarek is a really fun player to watch! She takes a consistently big swing and isn’t afraid to take a big rip from either pin in a high pressure moment. I love her intensity when she plays. Gospodarek also puts up a huge block against the outside attacker.
Klembarsky came in clutch for her team a number of times from the service line. She has a wicked float serve that caused passers to panic. She does a great job knowing just where to be and keeping her team in system.
Meincke was another player that came in clutch with her aggressive serving for NL 17R. She anchors the backrow with a lot of talk and direction. Meincke also does a nice job of seamlessly stepping in to take the 2nd contact.
Cora Sayotovich
Cora Sayotovich
I really like Sayotovich’s movement on the court. She had gritty defense, and moved the ball around the court with ease and speed to make opposing blockers work. Sayotovich did a great job utilizing all of her weapons on her squad.
SMV 17-1
Burr was playing six rotations at Show Me. She was also a main passer in serve receive. I can remember her early on being a raw athlete and seeing this evolution from a middle blocker/right side hitter not allowed in the backrow to being a solid all around player.
Lund is a tricky setter that creates an opportunity by waiting for the ball to drop just low enough before bailing it out to the other side. She is also a really scrappy defender that doesn’t let the ball drop on her side. Lund is a catalyst for this teams success with her great footwork and smooth release.
Nelson is a firecracker and she really energized her team in some big moments. She sets a smart block and whether she has a partner in crime or she is solo she puts up big block. On the flip side Nelson hits a heavy ball that is tough to block.
