Madison Burr Madison Burr 6'2" | RS Cannon Falls | 2024 State MN is HER.  She was the moment this weekend at the Prep Dig Madness in Miltown. The future South Dakota State Jackrabbit fittingly got the match winning block in set three as SMV 18-1 Black defeated Sky High in dramatic fashion.  Burr plays with quite a motor out of the middle where she can attack from anywhere on the court. Her reach across the net on the block is very intimidating.  What is most impressive is her movement where she can find her setter and is such a mismatch with her block.  Her presence on the court was felt from the other side of the net where they had to know where she was every rotation.  This team from Rochester, Minnesota was a fun one to watch where they have a roster loaded with athletes who have a a well rounded skill set.

Burr is a force at the net whether it is offensively or defensively. She does a great job ckosing the block and making her defenders job so much easier.  Burr can terminate from anywhere along the net and I love seeing her take a rip from either pin.

Burr has evolved into this really dangerous 6 rotation player that can do just about anything.  I say just about because I haven’t seen her set yet but I wouldn’t put it past her.  Burr has a phenomenal connection with her setter, Megan Lund Megan Lund 5'5" | S Rochester Century | 2024 State MN , and when they click they are unstoppable.  If Burr is in the front row with Alexis Nelson Alexis Nelson 6'0" | RS Byron | 2024 MN you may want to head in the other direction because they put up a smothering wall with their block.

Burr was playing six rotations at Show Me.  She was also a main passer in serve receive.  I can remember her early on being a raw athlete and seeing this evolution from a middle blocker/right side hitter not allowed in the backrow to being a solid all around player.

Burr is a real competitor and you can see it in her style of play as well as how her team feeds off her energy.  In 2021 she played a role in Cannon Fall’s Class AA 6th place finish but in 2022 she took the reigns.  Burr led her squad to a Class AA State Champion and earned Class AA State All-Tournament Team and the Class AA All-State Team.  She plays with elite effort on every play is zoned in with maximum concentration.  Burr is highly aware of her impact on the match outcome and doesn’t hold back.  I’ve also seen Burr used on either pins and as a middle blocker so her versatility also makes her an awesome steal for South Dakota State.

Burr was an unstoppable force during the state tournament for her Cannon Falls team.  She earned spots on the Class AA All-State Team and Class AA State All-Tournament Team while helping her team to a Class AA State Championship Title after taking a 6th place finish in 2021.  You will find her continuing her rise with SMV 17-1 Black this winter after making her verbal commitment to play for South Dakota State.

Burr has an incredibly high contact point that pairs extremely well with a heavy arm swing from anywhere on the net.  Most of the time you will find Burr hitting over most blockers and terminating at a high rate.
