18 Athletes Still on the Market in the 2024 Class

<p><em><sub>Be sure to follow <strong>@lshotvb </strong>on Instagram and Twitter for all things volleyball!</sub></em></p>   <p>Get 'em before it's too late!</p>   <p>The class of 2024 is almost an entire year in since the floodgates opened on June 15th last year. Many have been scooped up and found their home for the next several years. However, there's still some fine candidates out there, looking for their final landing spot in college!</p>   <p>Here's a look at some of the top prospects from the Michigan 2024 class that you need to take a look at!</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='153662' first='Catherine' last='Flaharty'] - 6'2 OH - Saline/L2</h4>   <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2022/12/Catherine-Flaharty.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-271013" width="254" height="169" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">[player_tooltip player_id='153662' first='Catherine' last='Flaharty']</figcaption></figure>   <p>A really exciting product out of the newly formed club, L2. This is an attacker you do not want to miss out on. Big, physical and still so much room for growth, she could be a game-changer in the right program. [player_tooltip player_id='153662' first='Catherine' last='Flaharty'] has shown signs to be a dominating presence on either pin and her versatility can take her a long way.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110301' first='Hailey' last='Green'] - 5'1 L - North Branch/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>Arguably the top libero in the class, this one comes out of the legendary North Branch cannon. A star since she has stepped onto the court in a Bronco jersey, she's only gotten better with time. She's small, but mighty. [player_tooltip player_id='110301' first='Hailey' last='Green'] currently plays for Michigan Elite 17 Mizuno, training under one of the best, former Big Ten libero, <strong>Lauryn Gibbs </strong>(Michigan State).</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='153663' first='Allison' last='Pilat'] - 6'2 OH - Plymouth Christian/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>Don't sleep on this 17 Mizuno squad from Michigan Elite. They have quite a few uncommitted dandies on their roster. Need a hitter? Check out [player_tooltip player_id='153663' first='Allison' last='Pilat']. While seen as primarily a middle last season, she's coming into her own as a power pin. Pilat has an incredible touch on the ball with a high contact and superb wrist control to place the ball anywhere on the court. </p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='254395' first='Fiona' last='Moord'] - 6'2 MB - Leland/Northshore</h4>   <p>She may not have been in front of many eyes yet, but you got to check out [player_tooltip player_id='254395' first='Fiona' last='Moord'] in action! A true hidden gem, this middle blocker has a lot of upside to her game. From another perennial power, Leland HS, Moord has been the latest star to emerge from this program. Moord brings a lot of heat and has a lot of length to shut down a block.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2022/11/13-Clara-Gyomory-scaled.jpg?w=716" alt="" class="wp-image-247239" width="159" height="227" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">[player_tooltip player_id='222361' first='Clara' last='Gyomory']</figcaption></figure>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='222361' first='Clara' last='Gyomory'] - 5'11 OPP - North Branch/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>She's bursting onto the scene, her ceiling is unknown and she's ready for the call! [player_tooltip player_id='222361' first='Clara' last='Gyomory'] has been having a breakout Junior year and showing no signs of slowing down. After breakout season with perennial powerhouse, North Branch, Gyomory led the bronco in all scoring. Now, with Michigan Elite, she's the marquee attacker for their 17 Elite group.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110315' first='Avry' last='Nelson'] - 6'3 MB - Northville/Legacy</h4>   <p>I'm a little surprised this one hasn't been called for yet, but whoever gets her has a good one. [player_tooltip player_id='110315' first='Avry' last='Nelson'] is an emerging star in the middle. Coming off of a state championship appearance with Northville, Nelson has made the move from L2 to Legacy this club season and has established herself as one of the top blockers in the gym.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110286' first='Angie' last='Butler'] - 5'10 OH - Mercy/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='110286' first='Angie' last='Butler'] is a do-it-all player! I've been watching Butler for the last several years of her career and have seen her hit just about anywhere along the net and play some impeccable defense. Butler brings a lot of athleticism to the game and can fill in just about any role you ask her.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110305' first='Kendall' last='Hopewell'] - 6'0 MB - Forest Hills Northern/FaR Out</h4>   <p>Now this one may be the most shocking to see on my list! [player_tooltip player_id='110305' first='Kendall' last='Hopewell'] is an absolute stud! One of the most dynamic players and one of my favorite to catch in action. She can be a shut down blocker in the middle, a scoring machine on the right side, and then she can walk into the back row and dime every pass! Hopewell is the real deal, you won't be disappointed!</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110332' first='Avery' last='Weslow'] - 5'11 OH - Forest Hills Central/FaR Out</h4>   <p>Another FaR Out power player, this one is another versatile player that can throw on many different hats and excel greatly. [player_tooltip player_id='110332' first='Avery' last='Weslow']'s bread and butter comes in her ball control and defense. As of late, Weslow has been finding another level in her offense as well. Weslow can be a great OH2, L, and she'd be an amazing defender on the beach.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='172200' first='Julia' last='Gojcaj'] - 5'9 S - Stoney Creek/L2</h4>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='172200' first='Julia' last='Gojcaj'] will be taking her talents to join IMG Academy in their inaugural volleyball class next year for the 2023-2024 school year. This is not only a great pick up for IMG in their first season with a volleyball program, but this would be a great get for any program looking for a dynamic setter. </p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110296' first='Ellie' last='Fles'] - 6'1 OH/MB - South Christian/FaR Out</h4>   <p>FaR Out volleyball is just absolutely stacked in this class. These athletes are powerful, athletic and versatile. [player_tooltip player_id='110296' first='Ellie' last='Fles'] is coming off of a big high school season with South Christian after leading them to a state semifinal appearance as an outside. Fles can maneuver between the two positions and excels greatly in both.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110280' first='Katelyn' last='(Katie) Berry'] - 5'11 OH/DS - South Lyon East/L2</h4>   <p>Many of these players are having breakout seasons this year, one of them is <strong>Katie Berry</strong>. While a year ago, Berry was a steady player for L2. This year, she's grown into the heartbeat to her team. An elite passer and a pin with just about all the shots in her wheelhouse, Berry has turned the notch up and killing it. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2022/12/145-Sydney-Ryan.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-264880" width="231" height="187" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">[player_tooltip player_id='261212' first='Sydney' last='Ryan']</figcaption></figure>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='261212' first='Sydney' last='Ryan'] - 6'3 OPP - Seaholm/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>One of the biggest pins remaining in the field, [player_tooltip player_id='261212' first='Sydney' last='Ryan'] has the ability to play even bigger than her height suggests. A recent addition to the Michigan Elite cannon, Ryan has been on the steady rise. Her blocking on the right side is lethal and her attack is growing harder and harder to defend.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110329' first='Hannah' last='Tymitz'] - 6'0 OPP - Romeo/Legacy</h4>   <p>Legacy 17-2 Adidas has been cooking up some pretty exciting things this past season. One of the most exciting pieces, and somehow a piece that hasn't been placed yet, is OPP [player_tooltip player_id='110329' first='Hannah' last='Tymitz']. A player really coming into her own since moving from the middle to the pin, Tymitz brings a lot of dynamic play to the right pin.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='222362' first='Danielle' last='Mertz'] - 5'11 OH - Marian/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>Alongside Gyomory, Mertz has been a critical cog in the Michigan Elite 17 Elite machine this season. For the last few seasons, Mertz has played a big utility role for Marian HS. An impact sub as a middle, as a pin, you name it. Mertz knows how to come off the bench and deliver. Now, in a full six rotation left side role, Mertz thrives and has a big IQ to keep ahead of her opponents.</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110278' first='Caroline' last='Baker'] - 5'9 S - Byron Center/FaR Out</h4>   <p>She may be on the smaller side, but her game play is huge! [player_tooltip player_id='110278' first='Caroline' last='Baker'] is arguably one of the most fluid setters in the field of setters in this class. A big time gamer, Baker has a great knowledge of the game and always seems to know where to go at the best time. </p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='222364' first='Trista' last='Ameel'] - 5'8 L - Romeo/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>I didn't have this player on my radar until recently when she joined Michigan Elite's 17 Elite team. Needless to say, I am impressed! Ameel is a scrappy defender and an energizer bunny on the court. She's an explosive defender that is willing to throw her body for the sake of keeping the play alive and its fun to watch!</p>   <h4 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110335' first='Avery' last='Woodard'] - 5'8 S - Marysville/Michigan Elite</h4>   <p>Another undersized setter, don't let this one fool you, because she brings a lot of great things to the table. As a setter, [player_tooltip player_id='110335' first='Avery' last='Woodard'] brings a lot of athleticism to the position. But where I think this player could really thrive is as a defender! Woodard is fast, explosive and has a great eye for the opponent's offense. </p>
