Very solid teams are in the top pools from California and Oregon, and both the Puget Sound and Evergreen region have excellent squads in the field. Let’s take a closer look at a WVBA team that has a chance to make a deep run this weekend.
Gonzales is relied upon to run the show for the WVBA 15 Adidas team, and she has to make the decisions on when and where to find a group of excellent hitters. The 2026 Lake Stevens player does a great job of locating her sets and giving her attackers the right tempo to work with. Gonzales will stay quiet and neutral with her hands, not giving away her setting choices to the defense. She is versatile and physical enough to attack from the right side, her background playing on the beach has helped her be an excellent all around player.
Highlights
Chambers has a powerful swing, and the ability to mix in a variety of tips that keeps the defense guessing. Her footwork in transition is well trained, she can deliver a kill on sets coming over her left shoulder out of system. The pipe attack is also a strong weapon for WVBA when Chambers is in the middle back. She can rip a swing t the corner and also drop in a roll over the top of the middle blocker. The Snohomish High School freshman reacts quickly defensively and will pass a free ball with a good tempo allowing her team to run a quick offense. Chambers pounds a float serve to the back 5 feet of the court, and works the seams in between the passers consistently.

A middle who plays her high school ball at Edmonds-Woodway, Carey-Boxley is a very quick attacker who gets off the floor with tremendous explosion and knows how to terminate. Running the seam “3” she can hit the ball around or over the block, and if a set is slightly off she has the hang time to drop over a tip. That hang time makes it dangerous for attackers trying to tip over Carey-Boxley, if the tip is in the wrong spot she can just stuff it straight down. This multi-sport athlete is dynamic and makes plays,
At 6’2 Slavik is an imposing blocker, and WVBA has had her on both pins this season. When attackers are set tight, Slavik will shut down any room to operate with her length and press. As an attacker her footwork is solid and she is delivering kills as a right side. She has spent some time in the middle when called on, and she is able to slam down an overpass with confidence. The Bishop Blanchet freshman may still be growing and should be a force to be reckoned with as she continues to develop.
Culala is part of the one-two WVBA 15 Adidas punch at libero. She has great emotion and communication with her team, Culala does an awesome job celebrating and pumping up her squad. Physically she has quick feet and at the same time flat out speed to get to balls tipped over or pushed to the corner. In serve receive she will change and angle her platform to get the best possible pass to her setter. On every contact Culala will adjust and finish the motion to try to be as accurate as she can be, keeping her setters in position to run the offense.

Watch out for a 2027 prospect who will be making a difference as a freshman next season, Shannara Peebles is an outside hitter with length, athleticism, and skill. Libero Addyson Pontack is very good in serve receive, middle Kaitlyn Machacek works hard pin to pin am has good size, and Nickolett Szavuly is a six-rotation outside who has an aggressive approach and swing.
