Kansas Pace Setters: Assist Leaders In Class 4A

Setters make the offense run and finding setters who share the ball well and keep all hitters apart of the system are hard to find.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This report focuses on five-setters in the Class of 2024 who were among assist leaders in 2022. A couple of them are ranked in the Prep Dig Kansas Class of 2024 rankings. One had over 1,000 assists during her junior season and another as a chance to finish with over 2,000 career assists with a big senior season in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='342342' first='Reagan' last='Smith']</strong>, 5'4”, S, Circle</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smith racked up 1,002 assists during her junior season. She had 926 assists during her sophomore season. She is also a solid defensive player as she has a total of 645 digs over three varsity seasons. The Circle prospect can play defensive specialist or setter. She makes consistent first passes and can push the ball to the pin hitters. Smith plays club ball with the Air Capital Aces. She is ranked No. 44 in the Prep Dig rankings for the class of 2024.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Megan Quinn</strong>, 5'8”, S, Louisburg</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quinn finished with a total of 982 assists during the 2022 season. She also finished with 265 digs for Louisburg during her junior campaign. Quinn has good court awareness and finds a way to keep rallies going and her team in system.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='515452' first='Foster' last='Nichols']</strong>, 5'8”, S, Ottawa</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nichols accumulated 859 assists over 102 sets played during her junior season for the Cyclones. She plays under control and can hit when needed. She is also an accomplished guard on the basketball court who can score from outside.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='119689' first='Ava' last='Martin']</strong>, 5'9”, S, Bishop Miege</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Martin finished her junior season with 834 assists. She has 1,592 total assists over three seasons of varsity competition. Martin is a winner as she plays with perennial power Bishop Miege and club ball with Pohaku. She also has a solid tip game as she finished with 82 kills during the 2022 season. She has a total of 1,663 assists over the course of three years of varsity action. The Tonganoxie prospect is very athletic and has a wealth of playing experience. She can also get up and play at the net as she finished with 49 total blocks during the 2022 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
