Our Nebraska 2025 rankings update spotlights dozens of players who have just climbed up the leaderboard. Since we have so many of these soaring talents to discuss, it’s worth breaking all this down by position. And, as we’ve mentioned before, the liberos in this class have been absolutely dominating in recent weeks.
So, our first stock riser feature from the 2025 class brings standout defenders into focus. Keep building those recruiting radars!
Granted, Kucks might not even play libero when high school action kicks off this fall. She’s already shown us some dynamic six-rotation attacking prowess and is one of Nebraska’s most exciting outside hitters in the 2025 class. But this year’s club season with Premier Nebraska has revealed Kucks’s incredible defensive instincts in the libero jersey, which only elevates this Millard North star’s greatness even more.
Ashby’s positive momentum in the 2025 rankings can be traced all the way back to last year’s fall season with Aurora, where she dropped big numbers while locking down the Huskies’s backcourt. The same story has materialized with Nebraska Juniors. Ashby exhibits leadership that can’t always be quantified on the stat sheet, and those intangible qualities are clear every time we watch 16 Black.
Jasa is one of many Nebraska’s 2025 liberos who have managed to steal the spotlight while also playing up an age group. This Millard West product was the focal point of a strong Premier 17 Silver backcourt this year and saw some big moments at qualifiers like Show Me. Expect another big step forward when Jasa transitions to upperclassman status.
It’s always fun to see players thrive in new environments, and that’s exactly what we have with Ott and VCNebraska. This libero joined a couple of her other Omaha Skutt Catholic teammates in making the move to VCN 16 Elite this year. Regardless of which jersey she’s wearing, Ott has stood out with a combination of gritty floor defense and reliable serve receive.
Francis has been making moves since last fall’s state semifinal appearance with Papillion-La Vista. Since then, she has taken on a ton of defensive responsibilities with Premier 16 Red en route to a standout season as the team’s libero. If you’re identifying Nebraska’s 2025 defenders who have made the biggest gains in the past year, this is one name that ought to be on your list.
River City Jrs is going to get a couple of entries on this feature, and this is also another Millard West athlete for the high school count. Schaecher’s mature command of the libero position goes beyond her ability to lock down first contacts in floor defense and serve receive. She has also been a brilliant secondary setter for 16 Navy who has a knack for laying up hittable balls to her pin hitters. Out-of-system production has been on the rise for River City with Schaecher leading the way.

Congrove continues our River City run after she has posted an impressive 2023 campaign of her own. This multi-sport star can step into any zone along the end line and has excelled at just about every spot you can put her in. Her past performances at Prep Dig Showcase events have kept Congrove on our radar for a while, and now the club season has elevated her stock even more.
Premier Nebraska puts its outstanding 2025 depth on display with Johansen also garnering a shoutout on this feature. The Premier 16 Silver defender carries the torch for Freeman on the high school side, so Premier is showing a bit of its geographical reach, too. Look for Johansen to keep racking up impressive stats once we dive into the fall season.

Nebraska Elite 16 Vision factored heavily in our new addition features for this class, but McCarthy is one who has been on our rankings for a while. She is now climbing up the leaderboard after she became the unquestioned leader at libero for 16 Vision. Once again, this is a 2025 libero whose best attribute might be her out-of-system setting when the designated setter takes the first ball.
Why not put another one on the board for Premier 16 Red? Not only can Gangwish make some incredible contributions in the back row, but she can also double as a frontcourt opposite whenever 16 Red wants to mix up its lineup. That’s the kind of multi-talented athlete we expect to come out of the Gretna High School program, and we’re excited to see what Gangwish can accomplish as a junior.
