The culminating event for the CEVA club season is the Regional tournament. Taking place at the Portland Expo center across two days, hundreds of teams took the court to secure their final standing for the season. We were able to see some of the best athletes from Oregon and SW Washington compete and took note of the stellar performances we saw. We will be featuring those athletes who impressed us throughout the coming weeks.
Without further ado, here are the 2024 pin hitters who had standout performances.
Putting up a massive block from the right side for the NPJ 17 National team, Konzelman was a defensive force during Regionals. Standing at 5’11” with an impressive vertical and press over the net, Konzelman shut down a lot of hitters during the tournament, helping lead her team to its 7th place finish. Offensively, Konzelman was a consistent option, hitting high over blockers’ hands and deep into the court.
Highlights
With a quick arm swing and an explosive approach, McKibben brought the Webfoot 18-1s team success both during Regionals and throughout the season. McKibben is a versatile attacker, whose athleticism and skill make her terminal from both pins. Her attacking range has improved immensely this year, which has helped McKibben to hit the ball around or through nearly any block that she faces.
Crushing the ball from the outside and the middle is the all-around offensive weapon, Millspaugh, whose major hops and quick arm swing help her score consistently for the Excel NW 17 Lux team. The fast offensive tempo that Millspaugh runs keeps opponents on their toes. With her impressive vertical and her height, Millspaugh is also able to put up a formidable block from any front row position on the court.
The Unity 17-1 outside hitter played super strong during Regionals, pushing her team to a couple of wins against some tough opponents. On defense, Osborn played with discipline and consistency, picking up tough balls from the middle back and keeping points in play. Offensively, Osborn has a powerful and quick arm swing that she used to put the ball down from anywhere on the court.
Unsurprisingly, Paz was a standout athlete during Regionals. Hitting from the outside on her Athena 17-1 team, Paz used her explosive attack and ability to hit to any place on the court, including a deadly shot down the line, to score consistently for her team. In the back row, Paz showed her steadiness and skill on serve receive, rarely (if ever) letting serves get past her. Paz is a high level player, able to adjust well to any set and move quickly and effortlessly on defense.
Hitting from the right side, Regalado was instrumental in the PVC 18-1s 1st place win in the 18s division during Regionals. As a leftie, Regalado is an offensive weapon from the right side, hitting back 1s effortlessly and using her quick arm to put the ball away. Her offensive skills shone during the tournament. Standing at 6’0”, Regalado also puts up a big and effective block.
Walker was dominant from the outside throughout the tournament, using her height and strong arm swing to power the ball through any block and stepping up for the OJVA 17-1 team when Sydney Dreves Sydney Dreves 5’11” | OH Columbia River | 2025 State #80 Nation WA moved from the outside into the libero position. Walker’s explosive approach and quick snap on the ball allows her to put the ball down consistently. At 6’0”, Walker also puts up a tough block that proves challenging to hit around.
Highlights
Ranked as the #1 right side hitter for the class of 2024, Wilson is an offensive force in the front row. With a super quick arm swing, an impressive reach, and strong court vision, Wilson is able to hit to any place and opening on the court. Wilson’s fast reactions help her pick up tough balls on defense, and she does an excellent job to reach and press over the net when blocking.
