No better way to end the club season than with the illustrious USA Girls Junior National Championships every year.
With some of the best talents from across the country on tap, the gym is red hot with top notch competition. This year was no different for the championships, upsets galore, heavy weights falling and fresh faces atop the podium.
Let’s take a look at some of the best of the best throughout the field. Next on the list, the top setters in the 17 Open division in Chicago.
Charlie Fuerbringer Charlie Fuerbringer 5'11" | S Mira Costa | 2024 State #2 Nation CA – Mizuno Long Beach
This Wisconsin bound setter leaves no question as to what she’s capable of at the next level. Fuerbringer as a setter has her hands in many cookie jars. She swings on two, plays impeccable defense, and sets a top notch ball.
Kirra Musgrove Kirra Musgrove 6'2" | S Lutheran South Academy | 2025 State #12 Nation TX – Houston Skyline
Speaking of players with many hands in the jars, Musgroves can do it all. Standing tall at 6’2, with a lefty hammer of an arm, she duals as both an attacker for three rotations and a setter for the rest. Musgroves – playing up – is a difference maker for Skyline
Reese Messer Reese Messer 5'11" | S St. James | 2025 State #6 Nation KS – Dynasty
Another setter playing up a division and really showing off the chops of a veteran, Messer plays well ahead of what her age suggests. Leading Dynasty all the way to the 17 Open Championship, Messer runs a tight ship for an offense and has the Midas touch.
Taylor Parks Taylor Parks 5'11" | S Calvary Christian | 2024 State #69 Nation FL – OTVA
OTVA had a real big end to the 2023 season, AAUs saw OTVA with the title and Parks led them to a top finish at USAVs as well. The future Gator runs her offense with speed, precision and a lot of poise.
Camille Edwards Camille Edwards 5'11" | S Prestonwood Christian | 2024 State #95 Nation TX – TAV
Despite the disappointing exit early on Day 4, TAV wouldn’t have made it without the offense running of this future Wolverine. Edwards has the weapons for days and she’s got the perfect idea on when to use who at the best time.
