Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. Some players stood out for their dynamic physical skills and some stood out for intangibles like leadership, effort and attitude. Let’s meet a few of the players who earned the honor of Top Performer at the showcase.
Mia McCurley Mia McCurley 5'10" | MB Hendrickson | 2024 TX [2024] 5-10 Middle (HS: Hendrickson/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mia is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our watch list now with what we have seen at the showcase. She plays for Hendrickson High School and also club for the awesome Austin Skyline volleyball program. Miss McCurley wowed us with her great middle play at the net. Our coaching staff was pleased to have her in the showcase and we really think that she has a lot of potential. Mia has a very live arm that she uses like a whip to score on opponents. As a blocker, she has really great timing when it comes to making sure that her press over the net is exactly when the opposing attacker is making contact with the ball. I love how she was playing with lots of fire, which tells me that she is very competitive and has the drive to win. This kind of tenacity will be a key component to having her on a college roster. Give her a look and you will not regret it. She can definitely help a college roster get more firepower. Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award for this showcase.
Emily Capangpangan Emily Capangpangan 5'9" | S Allen | 2026 TX [2026] 5-9 Setter (HS: Allen/Club: 1 United/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emily is an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is now on our watch list. She plays at Allen High School and also plays for the 1 United volleyball club program. I loved what I saw from her during the individual setting drills. She had some amazing soft hands and hit the bullseye on the target many times in a row. The back sets that came out of her hands during out of system tosses looked beautiful. Those hands were clean, crisp, and fast when I watched her deliver a ball. She really was pinpoint accurate while delivering to all three locations at the net. In my opinion, Emily is ready to lead a team to greatness right now as a sophomore. Everything about her play tells me that we should be watching her closely because of her potential. When I was analyzing the film, I kept going back to watching her form in slow motion and she kept replicating it over and over. This tells me that she is extremely coachable and has the body control necessary to keep getting better in the setting position. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award from our showcase.
Skyler Scott Skyler Scott 5'11" | S Cedar Ridge | 2026 TX [2026] 5-10 Setter (HS: Cedar Ridge/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Sky is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that could easily change once I update them in a few weeks with what I just saw in person at the showcase. She plays at Cedar Ridge High School and also for the awesome Austin Skyline club program. Miss Scott looked great for the entire two hours of drills and scrimmages. I love how she uses her length to command respect from the right side of the court. She has the ability to run a 5-1 offense and battle at the net with anyone. As a setter, her form and technique were on point. She contacts the ball high and uses a great quick release in order to get the ball out to the pins in a hurry. Taller setters are sometimes a little slower moving around the court, but Sky was moving at a very fast pace when releasing during serve receive and defensive transition. She is someone who I will be watching very closely from now on because I think she has a bright future. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award from our showcase.
