The varsity Sizzle was an absolute blast. We got to see great matchups from teams who do not usually see each other during the season. Numerous stand-out athletes played in the tournament – from big-name recruits to talented incoming freshmen. Here are some GameChangers who had a huge impact throughout the two-day varsity Sizzle tournament.
Logan Koepke Logan Koepke 6'0" | OH Caledonia | 2024 State MN – Outside Hitter – 2024 – Caledonia
Logan played outstanding at the tournament. This Concordia St. Paul commit played lights out for her team across the two-day tournament. Her consistency on first contact and termination on offense was key to her team’s success. Logan was a force to be reckoned with on the court. She was dependable and a leader on the court.
Ellie Burns Ellie Burns 5'9" | S Hudson | 2025 State WI – Setter – 2025 – Hudson
Ellie is a solid setter all around. She is gritty yet disciplined on the court. She makes some incredibly athletic plays and never seems to run out of steam. She is fast, has great form, and moves the ball around like a seasoned pro. Ellie keeps all of her hitters around and is strategic about her sets. She pulls the block a lot and opens up great opportunities for her teammates to earn points.
Kennedy Tisdale Kennedy Tisdale 5'11" | MB Pewaukee | 2026 State WI – Middle Hitter – 2026 – Pewaukee
Kennedy is an explosive addition to this talented Pewaukee program. She was a huge factor for Sting 15 Gold in their national championship run just a few weeks ago. She is an energizer on the court and makes big plays. Kennedy is dynamic in her attack – moving her swings around and using tips strategically. She is a middle on the rise in this class and one to watch.
Kali Heikkinen Kali Heikkinen OH Prentice | 2025 WI – Outside Hitter – 2025 – Prentice
Kali was electric at the Sizzle. She terminated so well and manufactured points out of the front and back rows. No matter where the set was, or how big of a block she was up against, Kali could find a way to earn points. She is dynamic, smart, and an energizer on her team. She was also solid on defense and serve receive.
Charlette Albers Charlette Albers 5'8" | S Stoughton | 2025 State WI – Setter – 2025 – Stoughton
Charlette looks better every time I see her play, and I have seen her play a lot of volleyball. She takes control of the court and runs the offense like a well-oiled machine. Charlette has a clean touch on the ball and sees the court very well. She moves the ball around efficiently and has all of the intangibles that make a setter great.
Abby Boxrud – Middle Hitter – 2024 – Hartford
Abby was smart and savvy out of the middle. She has a lot of raw athletic talent and used it to find great shots and tough angles on offense. She put up a massive block and was a consistently great first line of defense. She was engaged in every play and contributed on offense and defense in a big way.
Alexis Gardner Alexis Gardner 5'7" | DS/L Mukwonago | 2025 State WI – Libero – 2025 – Mukwonago
Alexis is a libero to watch in this class. She is incredibly talented and is a very well-rounded libero. What sets her apart is her confidence on serve receive. She has clean and simple form and can consistently put up great passes, even against the toughest servers. Her out-of-system balls are also great – almost as good as a real set, which helps her pins terminate both in and out of system.
Grace Borys Grace Borys 5'8" | S Notre Dame | 2025 State WI – Setter – 2025 – Notre Dame Academy
Grace is a setter who has really grown as a leader on the court in the last year. I remember her coming onto my radar last year at the Sizzle and how much potential she had. And she has really stepped into a great role on this NDA team. She has great hands, gets to every ball, and leads her offense with confidence and maturity. Grace puts great tempo on her sets and utilizes every hitter on the court to their full advantage.
Isabella Vander Velden Isabella Vander Velden 6'1" | MB Luxemburg-Casco | 2025 State WI – Middle Hitter – 2025 – Luxemburg-Casco
Isabella has been on my radar for a while but really showed what she is made of at the Sizzle. She played tough and gritty volleyball out of the middle. Isabella was disciplined in transition and always made herself available on offense. She had some truly spectacular kills throughout the weekend. Isabella was equally as valuable on defense and put up a nearly impenetrable block.
