Continue ReadingThe Prep Dig Stock Up and Freshman Showcase is coming to Houston and this Saturday, July 22, some of the most exciting prospects in the state of Texas will be in action with us at the Texas Tornados facility, located northwest of downtown.
We have players from several regions in the Lone Star State entered to take part in the Showcase, such as Austin, San Antonio, Mission, Waco, Beaumont and Corpus Christi, and are very excited to welcome all of them and continue to help them succeed in their volleyball journeys by providing the exposure they need to achieve their goals.
Registration is still open, so don’t waste any more time and make sure you’ll be there – and use my code TorresDig2023 for a $10 discount.
As we prepare for the two events, here are some of the players that will be joining us:
Carrasquillo is among the most exciting players in her age group. Her combination of technical and physical skills and her very high volleyball IQ allow her to play two very different positions (setter and outside hitter) at an extremely high level. She’s very complete and is one of those players that will be heavily involved with their team’s play. When playing setter, her accuracy and consistency are truly impressive. At outside hitter, she can make an impact in a variety of ways as she’s an excellent hitter, using her length and heavy arm very well to put the ball down, passer and server.
Highlights
Rincon will come all the way from Corpus Christi to battle some of the best talent in the state and, based on what we could see from her, she’ll be more than ready for it. Rincon has good size and interesting physical tools and can play anywhere at the net. She had an excellent freshman high school season playing middle with Mary Carroll, but is also very strong at the pins. Rincon is a heavy hitter who jumps well, swings hard and can put the ball down against any blockers. She’s also a good blocker herself, going up at the right time to make stops, and can cause damage from the service line with her tough floater.
Highlights
Thomas has tremendous potential and can develop into a very solid middle if she continues to progress. She has very intriguing physical tools, being long and athletic, and has very quick feet, which make of her a constant option to her setters, even in transition. Her right arm is very quick and her high contact point often gives her an edge against opposing blockers. Thomas is very active at the net too and is very smart when handling overpasses, keeping things simple and effective.
Highlights
Ana Del Angel Aguilar
Ana Del Angel Aguilar
Aguilar developed a lot in the last club season, when she had the opportunity of playing two age groups up with Texas Legacy’s 18s team. She is very calm on the court and wise beyond her years, knowing how to best contribute to her teams. Her playmaking is solid and steady and she likes to keep things simple and efficient with her ball distribution, standing out for her precision. Aguilar also brings a lot to the table with her serving, which is capable of getting even the best teams out of system. She’s also a solid defensive player.
Siena Ebert
Siena Ebert
Ebert is one of the several talented liberos that will take part in our Freshman Showcase. She’s extremely technical and mobile and gets to cover a huge area on the backcourt with her long frame. Ebert is a very solid passer, who whenever possible picks up serves that target her hitters, freeing them up to focus on putting the ball down. When playing defense, she thrives for excellent positioning and is very quick at moving toward tips and deflected shots.
