Thomas is one of the middles of the Texas Tornados 18 National team that will compete in the 18 American division. She joined Tornados this season, coming from Katy United , and gave them a solid boost at the net with her strong two-way game. She brings a lot of interesting aspects in her offense as although Thomas is very physical and athletic, she’s also very intelligent and creative with her shot selection, not always turning to power swings to put the ball down. Her blocking progressed a lot over the last few years and makes of her a solid defensive player as well.

Thomas has left a strong impression in our last showcase in the summer and I also got to watch her recently at the start of the club season with Katy United. She’s long, athletic and moves extremely well on the court, which helps her on both sides of the ball and also to battle taller opponents. Her offense continues to get better as Thomas is adding new tools to her arsenal and is a very effective scorer, getting off the floor well and finding open spots on the court to swing. She also does a very good job with her blocking, seeing plays before they happen and reacting accordingly to make the stop.

Thomas held her own in the match-like drills playing against some really strong middles and showed she has what it takes to make an impact at the net. A very physical player, she’s learning how to best use her tools on both sides of the ball and that was seen during the showcase as she was solid with her offense and her blocking. Thomas has clearly expanded her offensive game, having even spent some time playing on the right, and has refined her blocking too, adding a bit of aggressiveness to it and improved her timing when making stops.

Thomas has tremendous potential and can develop into a very solid middle if she continues to progress. She has very intriguing physical tools, being long and athletic, and has very quick feet, which make of her a constant option to her setters, even in transition. Her right arm is very quick and her high contact point often gives her an edge against opposing blockers. Thomas is very active at the net too and is very smart when handling overpasses, keeping things simple and effective.
