This was for much needed college exposure and also for those who wanted to get in front of our scouts to get on our watch list and possibly either get ranked or move up the rankings. Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. The players we will highlight in this series were what we call Game Changers. This means that when they are on the court for a team, they literally can change the game with their physical skill set. There were quite a few of them so we are going to split this up into a series. Let’s take a look at a few of the Game Changers for the Freshman and Houston Stock Up Showcases.
Ava Carrasquillo Ava Carrasquillo 6'0" | S Vandegrift | 2026 State TX [2026] 6-0 Setter (HS: Vandergrift/Club: Austin Performance/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ava is currently ranked as the 58th best overall prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings and will likely be moving up when I update them in few weeks. She plays for Vandergrift High School and also club for the Austin Performance program. Miss Carrasquillo is a tremendous recruit and has the demeanor that you want leading your team’s offense. She is not afraid of anything and doesn’t get shaken by big moments. She is highly competitive and can ignite a fire when needed for her team. As a distributor, she is pinpoint accurate and moves the ball around very well to all locations. I loved how during the scrimmages, she was involving everyone and running her middles during defensive transition. This is key for her as she advances in the setting position. I think running the middles like this in high school and club will take her recruiting game to the next level for sure. I am so glad that she attended our showcase, because it solidified our idea to move her up the rankings. Please help us congratulate her on earning the Game Changer award for her hard work and amazing play.
Nailah Randle Nailah Randle 6'1" | OH John. M Harlan | 2027 State TX [2027] 6-1 Outside (HS: Antonian Prep/Club: San Antonio Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Nailah is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but will definitely be added when I finally release them for her class. She plays at Antonian College Prep and also plays for the San Antonio Juniors volleyball club program. Miss Randle wowed us at the showcase during nationals and I am so glad that our scouts got to see her in person here in Houston also. The potential for this young lady is through the roof. She is just on another level than most her age. Volleyball is truly played at two levels. Low to the ground and high above the net. Nailah can fly and lives above the net! She has tremendous natural power in her upper body and showcases it regularly at the net. I love watching her throttle the ball and then celebrate with her team. She just has that awesome personality that you want in a leader for your squad. We are going to love following her volleyball journey and think every coach in the country should be watching along with us. You will not be disappointed in what you see. Please congratulate her on earning the Game Changer award for the showcase.
Izabella Cano Izabella Cano 5'6" | DS/L Sharyland Pioneer | 2027 State TX [2027] 5-6 Libero (HS: Pioneer/Club: McAllen Fierce/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Izabella is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays at Pioneer High School and also for the McAllen Fierce club program. I have written about her before since we had her in our showcase at Nationals, but every word that has been written has been warranted. This young lady is special and has a very bright future in the sport. I strongly encourage every college coach to take her name down and add her to your short list of athletes to watch in the libero position. Her game is a lot more mature than her age and you can see it in the way she moves on the court and anticipates the ball. It is like she already knows what is about to happen and puts herself in the perfect position to play the ball well before it is directed to her. This kind of court vision and reading of the opposing team’s offense is why I am very high on her potential. During the showcase she proved to everyone why she belongs on the top court with the best. Please congratulate her on being named a Game Changer.
There are many more amazing players that will be written about. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes.
