It’s the world of volleyball recruiting, where high school athletes from around the state show up early on a Saturday morning here at the Ignit Sports & Fitness Center. The Prep Dig Stock Up Showcase provides the stage. They perform.
They certainly raised their stock with anyone watching. The group was loaded with potential, from freshmen up to seniors.
Here’s a collection of ballers that stood out to me:
Person is a well-rounded volleyballer, capable of helping out all around the court. The sophomore hits it well from the right side. Her strong vertical leap and timing help her defend the net. She holds up well in the back row, too, with sharp reflexes and technique.
The Spartan junior stands out with a powerful swing. After playing on a limited basis with the varsity in ’22, there are opportunities for more court time this fall. PV is replacing some key performers from a program that appeared in the last two 5A state title matches, winning it all in ’21. Asselin possesses the pace on her hits to shine if she attains a workable efficiency.
Lei-Butters enjoyed home-court advantage Saturday, and she made the most of it. The Ignit Select and Ankeny Centennial libero impressed me during the recent club season. She made the most of her reps here as well. She’s a slick operator thanks to quick reflexes and anticipation. She covers a lot of ground.
Highlights
The sophomore from Rock Island, Ill., and Platform Elite performed well here. She worked in a setter rotation with Emily Henderson Emily Henderson 5’8″ | S Clear Creek Amana | 2026 State IA and Brynn Bakula Brynn Bakula 5’8″ | S Cedar Falls | 2026 State IA during drills, making it s solid trio for showcasing their skills and that of the hitters in attendance. For her part, Stewart provided consistently well-placed sets. She’s quick and defends well in the back.

Donovan is a known commodity in the Mississippi Valley Conference after handing out 348 assists as a freshman in ’21 and following it up with 705 last season. The junior moves fluidly around the court, finding her spots quickly, setting up and delivering precise passes. The Eagles will be relying heavily on her this fall after some key graduation losses.
Highlights
The setter group stood out at this event. Buhman added to it as a late addition to the program. She served notice of her arrival as a freshman last fall. She produced 778 assists for a state tournament team. She shines in part because of her natural feel for the game. On top of that, she’s athletic and technically sound.
Yep, another setter makes the list. As a sophomore in ’22, Iverson handed out 742 assists with 182 digs for a Warrior team that fell to Heelan in a regional final. Iverson shares many of the same traits with other setters that stood out here. She’s fundamentally sound with a high volleyball IQ. She effectively mixes up her delivery in terms of where she she goes with the ball and how she gets it there.
