Continue ReadingFormer Our Lady of the Lake University and current Alamo coach Raul Bernal put on a wonderful invitational volleyball camp that is dubbed “The Camp” a few weeks ago. A lot of the players who attended this invite camp are listed either on our State Rankings or they are on our watch list to potentially be added. Take a look at what the court coaches had to say about their play. This series of articles will highlight the players that stood out to me for a variety of reasons. Here are some of the players who starred:
Leah Garcia [2024] 5-10 Outside/Right Side (HS: McAllen Memorial/Club: Texas Fierce Elite/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Leah is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at McAllen Memorial High School and also the awesome Texas Fierce Elite volleyball club. Raul mentioned this to me about her play during the camp, “Her poise caught our eye. She maintained good poise under pressure. Her biggest upside is her fast arm. She powered thru blocks often and when she had 1 on 1 opportunities and she made sure the opposing team felt it. She will fit in great at the next level.” Miss Garcia has some solid offensive skills at the net. She has a picturesque approach and levitates at an elite level. Her arm swing is absolutely beautiful to watch on film. When you watch her transition from defense to her touch point, you can tell she is on a mission to destroy the opposing team with her cannon for a right arm. We will be watching her very closely during her senior season and we think you should also.
Isabella Andrews Isabella Andrews 5'11" | OH Samuel Clemens - Schertz TX | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-11 Outside (HS: Clemens/Club: San Antonio Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Isabella is currently ranked as the 89th best overall prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Clemens High School and also the amazing San Antonio Juniors volleyball club. Raul mentioned this to me about her play during the camp, “Isabella has great size and length. She is not only a great hitter but can pass the ball on point consistently. Her length not only allows her to cover a lot of floor space at serve receive, but even more so as she plays well above the net. She can add to anyone team as a six-rotation starter immediately. Her shot selection was great to see as she constantly kept the other side of the net having to adjust to her swings. And the best part is that she still has so much more room to grow in the game.” We couldn’t agree more with his evaluation of her play. We have written about her numerous times over the last few years and every adjective was warranted about her play. Give her a look and you will not be disappointed.
Jaylyn Tuiasosopo Jaylyn Tuiasosopo 5'10" | OH O'Connor | 2026 State TX [2026] 5-10 Outside (HS: O’Connor/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jaylyn is currently ranked as the 35th best overall prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at O’Connor High School and also for the nationally recognized Alamo volleyball club. Raul mentioned this to me about her play during the camp, “JT was one of the best hitters while at TheCamp. Her jump definitely allows her to not only contact the ball at a high point but to equally put it straight down. She is explosive to the ball and smart with her opportunities to score. She was also very low error, which allowed her court teams to usually be in the winning end of the games. She is definitely a player to watch as she grows and continues her volleyball journey. With her leaping ability and her not done growing yet makes for an outstanding outcome!” We have just seen her in person at our showcase during nationals a few weeks ago in Chicago and I agree with his evaluation of her game. During nationals, I watched her rattle off point after point against some of the best competition in the nation. She has every opportunity to continue to move up in the rankings with what we have seen this season. Stay tuned for more on Miss Tuiasosopo.
