We've been spending some time going class by class looking at players who could have breakout seasons in 2023. These are players whose stats weren't overwhelming eye raisers, but good enough to warrant some attention. Here are some of the setters in class 3 looking to have a big season.

[player_tooltip player_id='232326' first='Claudia' last='Jones'] - 2026 - Notre Dame (Cape)

Not a bad first season for Jones, who had just over 500 assists. With a season under her belt, look for her to push the 750 and up range in 2023.

Alysson Burns - 2026 - Perryville

Burns saw action in over 80 sets and averaged just over 3 assists per set as a freshman. If she has an expanded role in the offense, look for those numbers to double.

[player_tooltip player_id='490140' first='Sydney' last='Stuart'] - 2026 - Willow Springs

Like Burns, Stuart's numbers were almost identical in sets played and assists on the season. She showed flashes of good play as a freshman and should be primed for a big sophomore year.

Emma Pryor - 2026 - Cassville

Pryor had just short of 200 assists in her first year in 75 sets. Not bad for a debut season.

Sophia Huck - 2025 - Ste. Genevieve

Huck averaged right at five sets per set in her sophomore season. This was her first so expect a stronger season in year two of varsity action.

[player_tooltip player_id='737588' first='Ella' last='Crain'] - 2025 - Pleasant Hill

Crain was really good as a sophomore. So good in fact, she was key in her team making a deep postseason run. She saw action in 109 sets and had over 500 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='170040' first='PJ' last='Reutzel'] - 2025 - Fredericktown

Her sophomore season saw her average right at 4.6 assists per set. Look for her to get over the 6 mark in her junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='170038' first='Kate' last='Nichols'] - 2025 - Dexter

Another player operating in a 6-2, Nichols is responsible for setting up kills and earning them on the pin. We expect her numbers to be stronger this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='737573' first='Lanyn' last='Sisk'] - 2025 - Odessa

Sisk had a commendable year in the setter position in 2022. In just over 100 sets, she dialed up 405 assists on the year. She looks to have a breakout season in 2023.
