Mackenzie Parsons | 2024 | MB | Poway High School
Chasing the set on a slide is something Mackenzie Parsons is very comfortable doing. Specifically, she keeps the ball outside her body to give herself an opportunity to hit line or cross court. When she has those opportunities, she can hit the hands of blockers too. And does she ever do that. Parsons is very deliberate with her attacking off the block. The ability to move the ball around shows with sets in front of the setter too. Most often her body leans away and then she drops her thumb down to hit the opposite direction of her lean. When blocking, she is great at directing the ball back to the middle of the court.
Katherine Eskes | 5’11” | 2024 | OPP | Ripon High School
Katherine Eskes will back peddle to transition to start her approach and that has little to no effect on her hit. This lucid moving hitter has a great last two steps. Additionally, she does not reach too high to hit the ball and drives it deep. These arm swing mechanics open up a timing element that gives her a metaphorical upper hand (quite the opposite, literally). She shows that she will will tip early being unafraid of that perceived disadvantage. Additionally, Eskes has a standing float serve and a flat platform when digging the ball.

maintains a similar tempo throughout her approach. When attacking, she brings a lot of defenders to attention. Depending on the situation going on around her, she can be decisive very quickly. Specifically, Flanagan gets on top of the ball with a split block or one on one environment. Additionally, she drives the ball when the set is out of system or there is a solid block formed. The ball comes off her hitting hand fast.

. She hits many different angles and all of those angles can be hit hard driven. Not only does she deliver hard hit attacks, but also she can hit many shots. Specifically, she has an impressive mobility with her shoulders, wrists, hips and back when in the air. When Bolane takes her approach, she gets there quickly and waits for the ball. On defense, she turns her body into the court and allows an attacked ball to come to her.
Teya Gibbs| 5’7″ | 2024 | S | Chico High School
A setter that consistenly delivers a hittable ball, like Teya Gibbs, is bound to find her name in the leaderboard for assists. Technically she makes whatever footwork needed to get to the ball and then subtly sets off of her right foot. This imbalance actually creates a steady location far enough off the net to hit. Additionally, she uses the right foot to push off the ground and into the set. This makes for a high set that hitters can easily adapt to. When setting middle, she assures accuracy by turning into them as she sets.
