During a showcase sometimes it can be hard to create chemistry and temp with hitters, but these setters did an excellent job of distributing the ball across the pins and making some really smart decisions. Here is a look at some of the tall and talented setters that stood out at the Stock Up Showcase.
Let’s start out with Class of 2027 5’10” setter Ellery DeBoer out of Willmar High School and plays club for Kandi Elite . She runs a quick tempo ball and has strong hands. DeBoer jumps set really well for a freshman. She did a fantastic job of disturbing the ball across the net and keeping blockers off balance. Ellery really started to develop some good chemistry on the court with her hitters too. Take note of this fresh face!
Class of 2026’s
5’10” setter Savy Repinski Savy Repinski 5'10" | S Cotter | 2026 State MN out of Cotter High School and plays club for Elevate VBC. She’s a lefty and is an offensive threat at the net. She had 80 kills last fall for the Ramblers. Being a lefty she is able to take an overpass and put it down and also has a great two handed setter dump. She is dynamic in the front row being a dual threat to set or put the ball on the opposite floor. Repinski had 610 assists, and 66 ace serves in her freshman campaign. Keep this offensive minded setter on your radar!
5’10” setter Izzy Reichert Izzy Reichert 5'11" | S Eau Claire Regis | 2026 WI out of Regis High School and plays club for Kokoro 16-1 has great hands, hustles all over the floor and really keeps the offense humming. She also celebrates her teammates and is a great floor leader. I really love her ability to extend plays with her hustle.
Class of 2024’s
6’0” setter Katie Brandl Katie Brandl 6'0" | S Forest Lake | 2024 State MN out of Forest Lake and plays club for Kokoros Volleyball has great hands. She runs a fast tempo and is really quick. Brandl also squares to her hitters well, especially on the pins. For the Rangers last fall she had 886 set assists, 38 kills, 38 aces and 164 digs. Look for her to have a standout senior season!
5’6” setter/defensive specialist Abby Distad Abby Distad 5'6" | S Kasson-Mantorville | 2024 State MN out of Kasson Mantorville High School and plays club for KVBC does a phenomenal job of playing outside to in defense to collapse on those hard cross court shots. She is so strong with her sets and can push it pin to pin with ease. Distad sets just a really nice ball to her hitters. She extends play with her defense and can catch offenses off guard with her sets. Last fall she had 905 set assists, 256 digs and chipped in 65 ace serves. She is a jack of all trades kind of player that keeps plays going and is also a huge encouragement to her teammates on the floor!
5’9” setter Mya Smith Mya Smith 5'9" | S St. Michael Albertville | 2024 State MN out of St. Michael/Albertsville and plays club for Crossfire has a fantastic deep float serve that is hard to handle for receivers. She also plays great floor defense and has soft hands. She had an amazing back set from about left front to the right pin for the opposite to get a kill because the blockers were stunned. Her passion and enthusiasm are contagious too! Take note!
It was great to see all types of different setters play to their strengths on Saturday. Whether they were more of an offensive weapon with a sneaky dump or second contact kill or a defensive vacuum they all had unique gifts and talents to add to their particular court. It was very fun to watch the various wash drills to showcase those abilities. These setters definitely stocked up at the showcase!
