Top Five In 2A This Week

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Well into the third week of our season here in Indiana, most of the teams have hit the early part of the season hard. Some have even started to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Here are our top five teams in Class 2A, with two players on each team that have made an immediate impact.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#5: Eastern (9-1)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Comets have a pair of sisters that have done the great majority of the work early on in the season. <strong>Jenna Odle ('24, 5-6 MB/S)</strong> is a hyper athletic, multi positional volleyball talent that could be placed anywhere at the next level. Her 3+ kills per set while hitting over .300 is impressive, sure, but to also lead the Comets in assists AND blocks? Not bad for a 5-6 kid. Younger sister <strong>Josie Odle ('27, 5-8 S)</strong> is the purer setter of the two, and has a high volleyball IQ for this level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#4: South Adams (11-2)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With a tougher schedule, I'm comfortable putting the Starfires ahead of Eastern.....for now. This senior-led team has a pair of attackers that use their strength and athleticism to their advantage. <strong>Macy Pries ('24, 5-8 OH)</strong> is a primary passing outside with a 3k/4d/.300 per set stat line that rivals a lot of her counterparts in 2A. A middle who plays bigger than her frame is <strong>Gracyn Bixler ('24, 5-9 MB),</strong> who currently leads the squad in blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#3: Northeastern (5-0)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Although their schedule is the lightest on this list, there's no denying an undefeated start. A pair of sisters also dot this roster in <strong>Lilly Null ('24, 5-7 OH)</strong> and <strong>Olivia Null ('26, 5-7 S).</strong> Lilly is a steady O2-type of outside, known more for her ball control. Younger sibling Olivia is a defensive-minded setter that plays better defense than most setters in 2A while bombing away from behind the base line.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#2: Burris (11-0)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A list of top 2A volleyball programs would be incomplete without the Owls making an appearance. Oversized and underhyped, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='155089' first='Lilly' last='Howell'] ('25, 6-2 MB)</strong> is the easy choice for primary attacker on this roster. The Munciana product leads the squad in kills, blocks and hitting percentage (.500+!) through 11 matches, with no letdown in sight. Libero <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='371990' first='Layla' last='Gonzales'] ('24, 5-4 DS/L)</strong> is the first-contact player every team needs at the next level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#1: South Central (15-0)</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Starting the season with a win streak like Burris' is impressive. But fifteen in a row? The Satellites are mowing down their schedule with ease, and haven't dropped a set yet. <strong>Tatum Wade ('24, 5-10 OH)</strong>, as predicted, is leading the way offensively with 5+ kills per set while hitting over .300 in the process. She's also a primary passing outside for this roster and averages over three digs per set. Fellow senior <strong>Hope Welsh ('24, 5-6 S)</strong> is a 5-1 setter through and through, and locates the ball well for her hitters.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
