Megan Weststeyn | 6’2″ | 2024 | S | Ripon Catholic High School
One of the few setting in the CIF with more 10 assists per set, Megan Weststeyn is definitely one to watch. Additionally, she does have a strong outside hitter to make the watch all that much more exciting. In fact, all of her hitters are eager to pound the ball down in play. This mentality perhaps starts with the fearlessness that Weststeyn plays with on defense. When setting up on the net, she does have the capability and strength to make the famous pineapple tip to left back. She goes about her business and leads the team through her consistency. When called upon to be a defensive force, she redirects an attack from outside to inside the court.
Bethany Millen | 5’3″ | 2024 | S | Willows High School
Bethany Millen is having a very clean season as a setter. Specifically, she is on pace to have only 15% of the amount of ball handling errors than she did all of last season. This incredible control is likely a factor of maturity but her serve receivers are certainly helping her out. When put into situations where she must lead, this captain rises to the challenge. Continue to look for her to keep her team disciplined and playing clean volleyball. Specifically, the stats provide evidence of that. Her team kills nearly one of every two attempts and errors only one of every five attempts. That adds up to some excellent production.
Meki Maile | 5’8″ | 2025 | S | Menlo-Atherton High School
The setting style of Meki Maile is one that pushes the ball fast to a hitter. She gets her body behind the ball and using all of her arm to generate a fast tempo set. When she is approaching the ball to set, Maile always makes enough space to jump set. Her defensive skills are firmly rooted in to her reading skills. She anticipates very well and also has the patience to wait and then go after it. In order to allow herself to showcase her defensive awareness, she steps back for a great jump float serve that occasionally has some topspin on it.

. She does this with a technical maneuver rarely seen in setters. Many setters move their body with the ball, however, Hummel stays square to the sideline and simply moves her arms. This windshield washer like motion really guides the ball to hitters. Additionally, she has excellent footwork and every set looks nearly the same. Specifically, that is in reference to her body posture. Even when she tips the ball across the net, her body looks the same as when she is setting. There is also self confidence that radiates when she makes the long set all the way across the court to an outside hitter.
Antonia Wilson | 5’10” | 2024 | S | Santa Cruz High School
At near full extension when setting, Antonia Wilson possess a certain strength into the ball. Looking even a little bit closer, she rolls her fingers over the top of the ball when in her fully extended position. From top down to now focusing on the bottom, Wilson often spin sets and sets off just her right leg very frequently. She is a great teammate that gives everything she can to make her teammates successful. Additionally, her aggressive netplay really gives more assurance to her teammates that success is at the forefront of her actions.
