A tournament that brings in some of the best teams from and outside of California.

This year's Division 1 Tournament had 12 teams partake in it, but only one was crowned champion. When everything was said and done, Mater Dei was the last one standing, remaining undefeated and keeping its status as one of the top teams in the nation.

It wasn't the smoothest tournament, as it started with a three-set grind-it-out win against Oak Park River of Illinois. Eventually, the Monarchs met up with Long Beach Poly in the semifinals where it had the vibe of a CIF-SS finals match.

But Mater Dei persevered through those matches and through any other opponent that challenged them along the way, winning the tournament for the first time since 2018. Overall, it was a team effort, as you can make the argument that any impact player that they had could've made all-tournament, having been allowed to pick three.

Meet the All-Tournament athletes from the four teams that made the semifinals.

Mater Dei's Jimen Seung, [player_tooltip player_id='533581' first='Kalea' last='Lee'] and [player_tooltip player_id='482047' first='Westley' last='Matavao']. Every time Mater Dei needed a big point, Matavao was there to help her team out in any way. Her top spin serving continues to be more lethal, as it more often than not can change the momentum of a match and can give her team a well-timed string of points.

The more that you see Seung play, the more you see that her overall gameplay has stepped up. Seung, like Matavao, was a force and didn't waver from anything that stood in front of her at the net. Seung's swing is something that has improved from before the season, as she's taking bigger swings and is using good court vision when she goes up for the swing. Seung's blocking has also gotten better, as she timed herself perfectly the at the net.

Lee's setting and passing was what made Mater Dei play so efficiently, but her dumps are another thing that are on the minds of opposing teams. She always finds the perfect timing and open spot on the court when it comes to that. Her ball distribution was also phenomenal, as she has many options to go to, making opposing defenses think twice on where they should place their defense on their side.

Marymount's Brooke Salo and [player_tooltip player_id='482032' first='Makenna' last='Barnes']. Salo also excelled at playing in all six rotations, as her passes were well-placed. In addition, her serving made it tough on opposing teams to run their offense smoothly, as she checked off a majority of the boxes throughout the tournament. The senior leadership from Salo is what will help the Sailors have another deep postseason run

Playing a position that you're not really used to playing is tough, but Barnes made zero excuses and made the most of playing libero as opposed to playing on the left. Barnes' floor defense and passing were just what Marymount needed to get past a majority of their opponents throughout the weekend. Her passing is what's going to take her far, especially when she gets to Northwestern.

Long Beach Poly's [player_tooltip player_id='944110' first='Mina' last='Orbiso']. For Orbiso, she was an absolute trooper for the Jackrabbits and was a big reason why they finished third in the tournament. Orbiso distributed the ball perfectly and ran the offense smoothly, as she set the ball perfectly for her hitters. Only a sophomore, Orbiso is blossoming before everyone's eyes and improving with every match.

Santa Margarita's KC Medina.
