Several of the players who are getting on the court with their high school jerseys and battling alongside their teammates are doing it for one last time as they compete in their senior seasons. Some seniors are making sure they will have memorable send-offs by putting on amazing performances and playing huge roles with their teams.
Here are five of them:
McCurdy has been one of the most impactful offensive players in the state, being the focal point of Liberty’s playing system and responding with excellent production and clutch performances. The six-foot-tall outside hitter is well over 500 kills for the season at 533 and produced 20+-kill performances in ten of her last 11 matches, having tallied 38 against Reedy and 32 against Memorial. McCurdy also has strong numbers on the backcourt, having registered 297 digs and 478 passes already in the season.
Highlights
Skopal has been a stud for Rouse in her four years of high school volleyball and that certainly wouldn’t change in her senior season, but she’s taking things to another level. Right now, she’s the only player in the entire state to have surpassed 1,000 assists (she’s currently at 1,068), having now done it for a third-straight season. A fantastic all-around player, Skopal is contributing all across the board, having added 269 digs, 48 aces and career-bests 107 kills and 53 blocks.
The towering Masojc has been the best blocker in the entire state in her class and it’s not even close. Her 178 stops are almost 60 above the next senior to appear on the list and she’s in her own class when it comes to blocks per set, averaging 2.2. She’s been really difficult to get by at the net and had absurd performances earlier this month, getting 30 blocks in a five-set match against Mansfield and another 29 in a four-set duel against Cleburne. Masojc has also been an important offensive piece for Midlothian, having tallied 200 kills already.
O’Connor’s hard-working libero continues to be one of the team’s most important player in her senior season as she’s been anchoring the Panthers’ game from the backcourt with her play. Chavez has been extremely active on defense, having dug 624 balls already this season, and she was especially strong against Warren earlier this month, when she tallied a jaw-dropping 56 digs over five sets. The libero has also been solid with her passing, standing out with 342, and got 19 aces as well.
Richards has been on fire with Magnolia since the start of the season, strongly contributing to the team’s success on both sides of the ball. The senior has been extremely reliable offensively, having reached a career-high 409 kills, including a whooping 29 against Oak Ridge. Richards has also been very active on the backcourt, registering a career-high 267 digs to go with 390 passes.
