The Texas High School season is well underway and there have been some teams that are separating themselves from the rest of the pack this season. This series will be highlighting a few of them as everyone marches through their district schedule. Let's take a closer look at who is standing out for these teams on the rise.

Keller Indians

The Keller Indians have been a staple of the UIL State Playoffs during the recent years. This year they are right in the thick of things one again with a stellar cast of players. Their overall record sits at 18-11 and their district record is 4-2. They are battling very tough with everyone that gets put in their way. Since she stepped up her game last season when her squad was riddled with major injuries, [player_tooltip player_id='307446' first='Reagan' last='Sharp'] ahs not taken her foot off of the gas pedal. It is pedal to the floor and she has run over people on her way to the playoffs. She leads the team in total kills with 268 and is the work horse with well over 820 attempts on the ball. She is making sure that her senior season goes out with a bang. Helping her on the offensive end is junior pin [player_tooltip player_id='751915' first='Carley' last='Wright']. She is second on the team in kills and has been doing a great job scoring efficiently with a .227 hitting percentage this season. Senior stud [player_tooltip player_id='124142' first='Anna' last='Boatner'] is a load for opponents to match up with. Her height, savvy and volleyball IQ out of the middle is unmatched. She is one of the best middles in the state of Texas and has been for a while. With 93 total blocks on the year, she is single handedly making a case for defensive player of the year. Super sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='253969' first='Anna' last='Flores'] is running a fantastic 5-1 offense. I love how she is moving the ball around well and feeding the middles to take some pressure off of her star outside hitter. She is gaining some much needed experience to keep this team in the running for years to come. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='254259' first='Lauren' last='Scheiden'] is making a name for herself as a libero this year. She leads the team in digs and is creating some amazing passes to deliver to her setter. I promise you that no one wants to match up with this team in the first round of the playoffs.

Hockaday Daisies

In the private school division, Texas has some gems for sure. The Hockaday School is 20-12 overall this year and has some studs. Two outside hitters that everyone in the state knows really well are [player_tooltip player_id='179916' first='Olivia' last='Wayne'] and [player_tooltip player_id='124100' first='Avery' last='Jackson']. Avery is listed as one of the best players in her grad class for the past few years and if you have seen her in person, you know exactly why. She is also a stud beach volleyball player who you might see in the Olympics one day. No one can stop this young lady from scoring the ball. Your only hope is that you serve tough enough to keep the ball as out of system as you can get it so they don't set her. Once they do it is almost a guaranteed kill. She leads the team with 523 kills on a superb .366 hitting percentage. She is just as lethal from the back row as she is from the front row. [player_tooltip player_id='179916' first='Olivia' last='Wayne'] is a six foot four junior who can play any position along the net. In club she plays a lot of middle and during school ball, you can see her on the pins a lot. Coaches must know where she is at all times, because she can throttle the ball in a heartbeat. Aivey Ho and Campbell Trubey run a solid 6-2 offense and compliment each other well as they deliver great balls to their hitters. Superstar freshman liber [player_tooltip player_id='443042' first='Siena' last='Ebert'] is truly making a name for herself and we have definitely taken notice as she leads the team in digs. This team is solid to say the least.

Leon Cougars

The 1A division has a few teams who are just running over their competition this season. The Cougars are 35-1 overall this year. The team from Jewett, TX has some firepower that cannot go unnoticed. Outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='249375' first='Emily' last='Sitton'] has been on fire from the left side as she is unleashing bomb after bomb on opposing defenses. Setter Megan Page is running a phenomenal 5-1 offense and putting the ball very high on the pins for her studs to attack. Middle Sawyer Merry has a lightning quick arm swing and is putting the ball down with a lot of pace. [player_tooltip player_id='291718' first='Rylee' last='Henderson'] has been a wall for the Cougar defense at the net blocking tons that come her way. Fellow outside hitter Averi Furell is also playing well on the pins and does a great job keeping teams off-balance from the service line also. I love how this team plays well together and with a lot of fire to celebrate for each other when they do well. As long as [player_tooltip player_id='249375' first='Emily' last='Sitton'] is healthy, this team will go as far as her right arm will take them. Look for that to be a state title chase.
