The Texas High School season is well underway and there have been some teams that are separating themselves from the rest of the pack this season. This series will be highlighting a few of them as everyone marches through their district schedule. Let's take a closer look at who is standing out for these teams on the rise.

Plano West Wolves

The Lady Wolves of Plano West are rising up the rankings this season with a great record of 17-3 overall. District 6-6A is also known to be pretty tough with numerous amazing club players across all of the team's rosters. Plano West seems to be kicking it into high gear and playing some great “team ball”. They look like a very cohesive unit that has some balance to its play on the court. They are led by superb senior [player_tooltip player_id='307450' first='Katherine' last='Mansfield'] who ahs been one of the top point scorers out of the middle position for the last few years. Her slide is unstoppable and she can find holes and tool the block with the best of them. This young lady can put the ball down in a hurry with authority and scores just as much as most outside hitters do. Super sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='293180' first='Blaire' last='Bowers'] is coming into her own this year and has proven that she will be a force for the next few years. She is second on the team in kills and is looking very sharp. Six foot one outside hitter Kaitlyn Brewer is also getting in on the kill party as she is third on the team in scoring. Junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='227874' first='Sophia' last='Wei'] is as technical as they come when dishing the rock. Her counterpart Gabby Seeds is also setting their offense very well in the six two rotation. Junior libero Ella Willenborg is leading the team in digs and passing very well out of serve receive to keep this team in system.

Wakeland Wolverines

Wakeland is a 5A squad who is tearing it up on the court right now. They are currently 17-6 overall and riding a good wave into district 9 play. Super sophomore stud [player_tooltip player_id='254160' first='Hannah' last='Lee'] has been phenomenal out of the right side this year and is leading the team in kills. She gets off of the ground fast and furiously to pound the ball. During club she primarily plays out of the middle but has made a great transition to the pins. Her blocking has helped her squad a lot since the move to the opposite side. [player_tooltip player_id='178685' first='Jessica' last='Jones'] is well known by us at Prep Dig as we have followed her career for the past few years. She is second on the team in kills and scores well hitting around the block. Miss Jones is another middle who transitioned well to the pins for her high school team. Super sensational libero [player_tooltip player_id='196848' first='Aubree' last='Fernandez'] is taking care of business in the back row for the Wolverines. Her team can have the piece of mind that she is back there to clean up any mess. Junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='180162' first='Sarah' last='Pfiffner'] knows what it takes to lead a team to greatness and is doing that by moving the ball around well to all of her hitters. With players playing in new positions, it is easier to do when you have a setter like her who is pinpoint accurate with her location.

Colleyville Heritage Panthers

The Lady Panthers are battle tested and have a wonderful 25-8 record on the season. They are currently undefeated in district and many who follow the sport think they have the roster to compete for a state title in 5A. With the 9th best overall prospect in the nation on the left side, they are in good hands. [player_tooltip player_id='180469' first='Suli' last='Davis'] is known by everyone in the sport across the nation and backs up everything that is said about her in her awesome play. She was born to play the game and always excites the crowd with every swing. Suli has some help on the offensive end from senior Maddie Bird and Sophomore outside hitter Audrey Popp. They are both creating some significant firepower to take some of the load off of miss Davis. This team can rest assured that the pass will always be in system since they have [player_tooltip player_id='180168' first='Sarah' last='Mendoza'] in the back row. This young lady is shooting up the rankings herself with her awesome play as a libero. They have a freshman who is turning heads while she delivers great hittable balls to her attackers. Freshman setter [player_tooltip player_id='433629' first='Claire' last='Bundy'] is balling to say the least.
