It’s Showtime! AV vs OH, Stand Out Players

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You often get a mix of talent and skills at the high school level. Not everyone plays club volleyball. Location, distance, finances or time can be contributing factors as to why some players do not get the opportunity. Not every high school player plays club volleyball, and not every club player plays for their high school. Either way, when the team gets on the court with club and non-club players, it's showtime! The battle between the Apple Valley Sun Devils and the Oak Hills Bulldogs provided an opportunity to see their athletes in action. Introducing six players who should be watched as the season continues. She is a 5'9 middle blocker/hitter. Blodgett is a dual athlete who also competes in club soccer.  She is not the average height for a middle, but that does not stop her from penetrating the net and making plays by blocking the opponent. Maya is a strong hitter who places power behind her balls to score or hits over the block. She can lateral side to side and help her pins block at the net. The majority of her sets are clean and spin-free. Despite playing on an injury, Hill has not let that stop her ability to run an offense and win games. She still has a fast reaction time, and can get to an off pass. She listens to her hitters and places the ball in the perfect spots for them to capitalize on. Watching Hill is enjoyable because she spreads the ball around making some attacks unpredictable. This makes it easier to push out and place. She has the speed to get to off passes and still make a hittable set to her hitters.  Eisenbrey gives all of her front row opportunities to attack the ball by moving the ball around. She had a bump set from back row to her outside who scored. She has a nice back set to right side and blocks at the net. She has a solid platform that controls her passes. She covers the tips, blocks and her hitters. Lopez is fast to the ball, stopping them from hitting the ground and keeping them in play. She would cover the tips and blocks. She hustled on the court going after every lose ball. She can bump set the 2nd ball when the setter is out. Collins has no fear with diving, digging or sliding for a ball. She had some saves that kept the ball in play. She has a solid swing that creates power and velocity behind her ball. She can adjust on an attack to score and find open areas on the court. Sena also has a nice serve that gets her opponents out of system.
