I learned something this week. I mean, I knew it but didn't know who was on the team until seeing them in live-action recently. The Northeast Kansas Nighthawks is a homeschool team playing together in the state of Kansas. When looking at their schedule it appears they play other faith-based programs, while also competing in some tournaments. What I didn't know before yesterday was the players that constructed this roster.

Tuesday they played Faith Christian Academy which has some good players as well. [player_tooltip player_id='150220' first='Hope' last='Hickman'] stood out immediately as a player I've seen from the club scene with her time previously with [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='Power'] and Mavs volleyball. The Oral Roberts commit scored at will when she was able to get swings on the ball and had some solid rips from the back row. The Simien sisters from [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] Volleyball were also members of this team. They both display tremendous athleticism on the court. [player_tooltip player_id='222096' first='Selah' last='Simien'] set and took some swings in the front row. Rael Simien has good size and was used primarily in the front court but came in and passed some late in the match.

A player who really impressed me was libero Brenae Moore. She was steady all evening in serve receive and served strong behind the service line. Josie Barkley has had a good high school career. She showed the ability to score from the pin and takes good swings. When Simien transitioned from the setter role, freshman [player_tooltip player_id='885605' first='Sami' last='Baum'] did a good job running the offense.

There were a couple of other players who rotated in during the match and I didn't catch their numbers but this team is solid all around. They currently sit at 18-3 on the season with all of their losses coming in tournament play.
