Continue ReadingLast weekend Burnsville was buzzing with some of the top Class AA teams in Minnesota. I had the opportunity to see plenty of standouts on Friday night. Let’s take a look at some of the outside hitters who grabbed the spotlight under the Friday Night lights.
Miedema wasn’t hesitating to take some big aggressive swings. She did a great job of working around the block and showed off her serve receive skills. Miedema is smooth when transitioning into the attack phase of every rally and efficient and scoring points.
Highlights
Koepke has perfected the art of waiting patiently as she hangs in the air. She waits out the block and then crushes the ball down the line. Koepke is effortless in her pass-to-attack on either pin.
Bemidji got a gem when they picked up Bengtson for their 2024 class. She is super explosive and can pound the line. She is a high flyer with experience attacking from anywhere on the court. Bengtson was also making a lot of great first contacts for her squad.
Navreen Biring
Navreen Biring
Biring has a really high contact point and reach giving her an advantage. She moves well in the back row and packs a punch on either pin. Biring strikes me as the type of player that can fill a number of different roles.
Klein is fun to watch as you can see her just thinking and picking out the exact spot she wants to put the ball. She’s got a really high contact point that allows her to hit over most blockers. Klein is a solid 6 rotation player with consistency and efficiency at the net.
LaPlante is an effotless flyer that takes a really aggressive swing. She works hard and her explosive approach makes her a great fit on the pin. LaPlante will take an aggressive swing at any tempo ball and she has a pretty wide attacking range. Her versatility in shots also make her fun to watch.

Kratochvil was absolutely pounding the ball on Friday night. She has a really well-rounded game which makes her stand out but just when you think you’ve seen her best, she turns it up a notch. Kratochvil sees the court and makes really smart choices.

Paige Ackerman Paige Ackerman 5'10" | OH Belle Plaine | 2024 State MN and Lacey Croft – Belle Plaine
These girls know exactly how to find the split in the block and expose it for points. Ackerman doesn’t hesitate to take a fast swing on the ball and she is very smooth in pass to attack or defensive transition to attack. Croft is a high flyer that uses her experience to make the right moves and call the shots to work off the opposing block for points.
Chandler has fast footwork and gets off the floor quick to utilize a faster tempo set. She can execute from anywhere on the net and patrol the net with the best of them. Chandler is quick laterally and in transition to put herself in good position to execute.
