Who're the top teams going into the second half of the 2023 season and who are some of the top players around the state?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's take a look at some of the top setters setting the pace in Michigan this fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='172203' first='Taylor' last='Smith'] - Pewamo Westphalia</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top setters in the 2024 class, [player_tooltip player_id='172203' first='Taylor' last='Smith']'s (Eastern Michigan) presence for this Pewamo-Westphalia program has proved wonders. Smith offers a lot in the setter position given her size and mobility around the court. Her location is excellent and offers herself as an attacking threat as well. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sophia Crawford - Gull Lake</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another top setter from the 2024 class, Gull Lake is beginning to turn up the heat and so is [player_tooltip player_id='172199' first='Sophie' last='Crawford'] (Miami (OH)). Much like Smith, Crawford offers up a lot more than what one would expect in her position. While a game-changer with the offense, Crawford can very easily take over a match with her point scoring ways at the net as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='156293' first='Ella' last='Craggs'] - Northville</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Northville Mustangs are once again top dog in Division I. One of the biggest reasons for this is the QB1 running the show, [player_tooltip player_id='156293' first='Ella' last='Craggs'] (Illinois State). A player coming off of a highly decorated sophomore year with the Mustangs and in club, Craggs shows absolutely no signs of slowing down anytime soon. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='156295' first='Campbell' last='Flynn'] - Mercy</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mercy may have been without [player_tooltip player_id='156295' first='Campbell' last='Flynn'] (Nebraska) for a large chunk of the early season, but since the reconnection with Flynn Mercy has been flying high. Flynn is coming off of a huge summer that included a World Championship with the USA U19 National Team and she's surely looking to cap off 2023 with a state title with Mercy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='110302' first='Adrienne' last='Greschaw'] - North Branch</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>North Branch is the team to beat in the Division II race. On the hunt for a second consecutive state title, [player_tooltip player_id='110302' first='Adrienne' last='Greschaw'] is the player that'll lead the way. You'll never find this one too rattled. Greschaw has been running the offense since her freshman year and is looking to go out on top in her final outing at a Bronco.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
