#5: Evansville Memorial (9-1)
Welcome to the top five, Tigers! With their lone blemish against Brebeuf, Memorial has a firm grip on this nine-win record, with a twenty win mark well within reach. This 6-2 offense is run by Reese McCutchan (’24, 5-8 S/O) and Reegan Buck (’25, 5-7 S). Reese attacks in the front row while running the show from the back, while Reegan is a defensive-minded setter that is smooth as silk.
#4: Angola (8-0)
We’re starting to see why the Hornets are not to be trifled with again this fall. Without dropping a set thus far, their home tournament match against Bellmont on Saturday the 16th looks to be the 3A match of the season. Morgan Gaerte Morgan Gaerte 6'4" | OH Angola | 2024 State #26 Nation IN (’24, 6-4 OH, Notre Dame commit) is hammering away at all opponents from everywhere, while fellow outside Maya Harris Maya Harris 6'0" | RS Angola | 2026 State IN (’26, 5-10 OH) has the springs and the athleticism to keep defenses honest. The two combine for eight kills per set, and they’re relentless.
#3: Benton Central (9-0)
Speaking of relentless, the Bison knocked off West Lafayette last night in four hard-fought sets. Young and talented Calista Foster Calista Foster 5'9" | OH Benton Central | 2026 State IN (’26, 5-10 OH) pounded 18 kills and older sister Sienna Foster Sienna Foster 5'9" | OH Benton Central | 2024 State IN (’24, 5-10 OH, Purdue commit) produced a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs. This pair, with their Boiler Juniors background, cannot be served under any circumstance if you want to go home with a win.
#2: Providence (13-4)
Without a loss to any 3A team this season, I had a hard time dropping the Pioneers any further than #2 this week. Camila Adams Camila Adams 5'8" | DS/L Providence | 2024 State IN (’24, 5-9 DS/L) is owning the first contact on this roster, while Lilly Tappel Lilly Tappel 5'10" | OH Providence | 2024 State IN (’24, 5-10 OH) puts balls away with regularity. Their schedule looks impossible, but to be this successful, you have to play the best available to prepare for October and, with a little luck, November.
#1: Bellmont (15-1)
The Braves certainly have earned this top spot this week, with their lone loss to 4A champ Hamilton Southeastern over the weekend. A tough four-set win over big and strong Homestead was huge last night, and our match of the night tonight against Carroll should be a fun one to watch. MaryKate Scheumann MaryKate Scheumann 5'10" | OH Bellmont | 2026 State IN (’26, 5-10 OH) is all business, leading the Braves in kills and adding another 26 to her total last night. Fellow pin attacker Delaney Lawson Delaney Lawson 6'2" | OH Bellmont | 2024 State IN (’24, 6-1 OH, Utah State commit) completes the dynamic of this two-headed offense with size and power to spare.
